Draven I felt so bad it was almost unbearable. I had hurt her so deeply, and it was all my fault. Every word I had spoken, every doubt I had allowed to settle in my mind, every moment I had hesitated to trust her all led to this. I had seen the pain in her eyes, the coldness in her expression, and I hated myself for making her feel that way. I wanted to pull her into a hug, to tell her, to show her that I was so sorry. But the look on her face made me stop. She was calm, almost detached, but I knew that was a mask. Beneath it, she was wounded. She had every right to be. I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know what to do. Everyone had left the gathering, leaving only the lingering crowd noise and the faint hum of activity in the pack grounds.
