Ilya’s POV: I watched as the blood drained from her expression. My heart skipped a beating, thudding painfully against my ribs. I had known this truth would be a heavy blow, but seeing the light of trust flicker and die in her eyes was almost more than I could stand.

Ophelia’s POV: The world had frozen.

Ophelia’s POV: At the end of the day, despite my pride, I had no choice but to accept. How could I reject it?

Ophelia’s POV: “Of course I rejected you, Damon! You had a girlfriend back then, and I—I had a boyfriend,” I spoke up, my voice cracking under the sheer weight of the absurdity. I felt baffled, breathless at how we’d reached this point.

Damon’s POV: She jolted with fear which caused the glass to slip from her trembling fingers. My reflexes were faster. I caught the glass mid-air before it could shatter against the tile, the water sloshing over my knuckles. In the same motion, I slammed my other hand over her lip
