The medbay smelled of antiseptic and scorched fabric, the particular combination that always followed an extraction gone wrong. Victor sat on the edge of a gurney he refused to lie down in, letting a field medic wrap fresh gauze around his forearm while he stared at nothing in particular. Three of his people were dead.
