CHAPTER ONE: THE APPOINTMENT ANNA'S POV I sat in the hospital's waiting room, my heart beating loudly in my chest, palms sweating as my vision felt hazy. Why was I nervous? I didn't even know the answer to that question. My husband Tom, was seated close to me, on his phone as usual, tapping away. Not even paying attention to me. I didn't want to be here, he dragged me here, insisting we needed a solution to our childlessness. “The fault is with you, Anna.” He said last night. “ I've gone for checkups and tests and the doctor said there's nothing wrong with me." We've been married for four years now, and I haven't gotten pregnant even once, not even a miscarriage. A nurse walked up to us, a smile in place as she addressed us. “Mr and Mrs Goldberg.
