By the time I reached the house, the weight in my chest had settled into something dull and heavy.The door was half open. I could hear Kane’s laughter from inside, loud and unrestrained, followed by Selena’s squeal of laughter after something fell down. I walked in and found them playing with wooden blocks I had gotten for their fourth birthday. I found Austin reading something as he kept a watchful eye on them.
