Chapter 21Leah's P.O.VI was so lost staring at him that I didn't even realize he had finished packing the books. He paused, staring at me.“Hello?” he said, leaning in slightly. My breath hitched and I sat on the floor without realizing it. “Hey… hi… what?” I stammered.“I just asked if you're new here,” he said.“Y-yes. How did you know?” I asked.“You're clumsy,” he responded.I frowned. Why does this sound familiar? “I'm not clumsy,” I said.He stood up and stretched out his hand to me. “I'm Nathan,” he said.I took his hand, and he helped me up. “Leah,” I replied.“Where are you headed?” he asked. “We're having an orientation this morning, and I'm supposed to attend,” I replied.“I happened to be heading there too,” he smiled.“Really?” I asked, excited.“But… not right away,” he said and my smile faded. “I have to deliver these books to the owner,” he added.“Oh,” I said, a little disappointed. I can't follow a stranger to an unknown place, even if it's in school. I've read sto

Chapter 23Leah’s P.O.V“What’s going on?” someone said behind us. I could recognize that voice, even in my sleep.Didn’t he say whenever we were in school I should pretend to not know him? What was he doing here now?My thoughts were interrupted when Nora said, “Babe.” My mind froze, and my heartbeat quickened. “Babe?” the word echoed in my ears. Could I have mistaken the voice? I turned around, and indeed it was Sky. “Meet my boyfriend Sky,” she introduced. So they were together? Sky smiled faintly at me with a slight nod, as if acknowledging a stranger. My eyes fell on her hands holding his… the bright smile on her face as she talked about what I was too absent minded to hear. When I came to, Nora already left with Sky, and I recall her saying she’d be back. My heart clenched painfully as I stared at my unfinished food. Of all people… why Sky?I stood up abruptly and headed to the venue for our next lecture. My appetite was gone… completely.*** I arrived much earlier than the

Chapter 25Leah's P.O.VWe sat on the first floor of the building. There were some people performing a dance opera in the middle of the ground floor. It turned out this place had more to it than I imagined. The place had an ancient feel, and the people there were lively.“This place is nothing like the rumors said,” I said to Nora.“Ah, I've heard those rumors before, and I almost believed it. Some students don't go there because they're afraid that others with higher status and popularity would bully them, and they have no one to support them,” Nora explained.“Oh, so that's how it is.”“You see those people dancing? They're students like us. This is the place where students can show their talents with an audience that's always willing to watch. There are many talents here, not just dance—”Nora's phone buzzed with a message notification, and she checked her phone. She frowned slightly.“Leah, Nathan is here, and I want to go find him,” Nora said and left.“Okay,” I said and continue

Chapter 27Leah's P.O.VI lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling. I lifted my phone to my gaze, staring at the screen. I've been chatting with Nathan for the past few minutes now.“Goodnight.”The message I just sent has been delivered, but he hasn't seen it yet.My mind drifted back to earlier… the moment I made a big decision…---“I love you. No matter who or what you become, I will still love you. Ever since the first day I saw you, my heart has always been beating for you. I'm so greedy that I get jealous if I spot you with any guy. I just want you to be mine alone. Will you be my girlfriend?”“I…” I hesitated. While he spoke, every instinct in me screamed no—but now, I couldn’t bring myself to say it. How do I tell him I see him as just a friend?“Just say what's on your mind,” he said gently. “I’m not going to force you. I knew this might not go the way I hoped… I’m ready for that.”I stared at those sincere eyes… I didn't want to hurt him. It'd be best if I found a way to refus

Chapter 29Leah's P.O.V His lips crashed against mine—hard, demanding, nothing like the hesitant pause before. The impact sent a jolt through my entire body, and I gasped into his mouth, my hands flying up to grip his shoulders for balance. He didn't give me time to think. His tongue pushed past my lips, hot and insistent, and I opened for him without hesitation. The taste of him flooded my senses, and every point of contact sent heat racing through my body.My fingers curled against the hard planes of his shoulders, clutching him like he was the only solid thing in this spinning room. His hand slid from the wall to the back of my neck, fingers threading through my hair, angling my head exactly how he wanted. He took control, and my body melted beneath his touch.I wrapped my hands around his neck, pulling him closer, needing more of that pressure, that heat. His other hand found my waist, fingers digging into my bare skin where my dress had fallen away. The touch sent a shiver racing
