Semua Bab His Rejected Wife, the Billionaire’s New Desire: Bab 31 - Bab 40

SOPHIAMonday came faster than I expected. Floral had returned home, but we were both so busy preparing for work that I forgot to ask where she’d been. This was her first time sleeping out at a stretch since I had begun staying with her. For the first part of the ride to the office, she tried to make conversation, but my monotone replies discouraged her. For the other half of the ride, I was nervous and afraid of facing Adrian. What would he want us to talk about? When the car stopped, I grabbed my bag and left for the office. The elevator opened as I entered the lobby, and Adrian stepped out. I flashed him a smile, but his face was blank. “Just the person I wanted to see,” he muttered when I was close to him. From his tone, I knew something was wrong, but

SOPHIAThe next few hours moved in a blur. Each time my phone buzzed or I received a company email, my heart skipped a beat. I half-expected it to be my sack letter or a headline showing that my video had been leaked. For the rest of the morning, my stomach was in knots, and my mind spun nonstop. It didn’t help that no one had any useful updates for me. I went out with Floral for lunch, only because I needed air and space to clear my head, but I couldn’t focus on the food. Floral tried to cheer me up, but after a series of monotone replies, she gave up. I moved on autopilot for the rest of the day, and when it was closing time, I was the first to leave. “Hey,” someone said. I looked up at the sound of the voice. It was Floral. I’d been so lost in thou

SOPHIAThe meeting was today. I didn’t sleep a wink last night. It had been nearly impossible to do anything useful, knowing how big a deal today was. Even eating was a struggle. Today would determine if I stayed or finally left Glamour Galore. My stomach growled, and I placed a hand over it, as if that would stop the sound. I skipped breakfast, and the only thing I had eaten so far was the chips Floral gave me.It didn’t help that Adrian hadn’t replied to my message. I could tell he had read it. Wasn’t communication part of being a professional? I opened up the text and read it out. Was I too forward? Should I have removed the last part? The phone buzzed in my hand, and I almost dropped it. It was Adrian.

SOPHIAI collapsed into my chair with a sigh. Why was this too complicated? I hadn’t gone to meet Kierra to resume the project because I wanted to discuss with Olivia first to find out when the RC project would start. But I couldn’t bring myself to go and meet her. She would laugh at me; that bit was for sure. Maybe even refuse to work with her, but since I had our boss’ approval, her resistance was futile. Besides, it had been a while since I saw Adrian. Maybe this could be my excuse to pop into his office. So, why wasn’t I leaving my office to go meet her? The door opened before I could garner the courage to leave, and Adrian entered. I smiled, but one look at his face made it vanish. He was holdin

SOPHIAMarc’s words followed me home. I tried not to think too deeply about it, but they never left my head. Alison and Floral. I didn’t want to believe him, but I saw that call.  She dismissed it when I asked. What if…? No, Floral was a good friend—the best one. Yet, three days later, when Marc’s text came in, I couldn’t ignore it. He wanted us to meet up at a downtown cafe. Floral wasn’t home, and I was bored out of my mind, so of course I accepted the invitation. I needed to get answers. I decided against leaving a note for Floral and went to meet him. In a few minutes, I was in the cafe, sitting across from the man I’d been married to for years. The man I thought wou
