LIA’S POV I can’t help the gasp that escapes and I feel a wave of panic begin to hit. Clint rushes towards the cottage, not giving me the opportunity to dwell on the sight. He crosses over the threshold, reacting with nothing more than a brief pause to the broken-down door. He walks straight to the bedroom, and he places me on the bed every so gently. Immediately, he turns around towards the door. My heart is racing, and I’m still not over the scene outside. The thought of being left alone in here terrifies me, but worst of all, I don’t want Clint to leave my sight, not yet. I need to keep seeing him, just for a few more minutes, till I can convince my mind that he is safe. “Don’t leave,” I whisper. He freezes in front of the door, his hand still on the handle.
