Semua Bab Alpha VS Omega' Twin VS Twin (A Dark Werewolf Romance): Bab 231 - Bab 240

POV: Fell | Deepest sublevel, ancient asylum beneath St. ThomasThe level below the sublevel was here before the hospital was built above it, which is the thing that drew me to this building in the first place when the Order was selecting facility locations six years ago, the specific quality of a space that has been used for containing things for a very long time and which has the infrastructure of containment already present in its walls and its floors and its particular quality of air, which is the air of a sealed place, the air of somewhere that has been closed to the outside for long enough that it has developed its own atmosphere.Bethlem ran a ward here in the eighteenth century, before the move to Lambeth, the overflow cases, the ones who could not be managed in the upper facility and who required the specific containment that depth provides. The records are in the asylum's own archive if you know where to look, which I did, and the records describe the ward in the language of

POV: Cormac | Brennan townhouse, KensingtonThe townhouse has been in the Brennan family for ninety years and my father lived in it for sixty of those years and it has the quality of a house that has been organized around a specific person for a very long time, which is the quality of every room having a logic that is not immediately obvious and which reveals itself when you understand whose logic it was.I have not been here since the night Callum was framed, which is the night I chose the wrong thing and understood it and did not change course, and that night has a quality in my memory that most nights do not have, which is the quality of a moment that divided everything into before and after in a way that is still being resolved.Moira is beside me and Finn is in front of us, two years old and operating at the speed of a two-year-old who has been given a new space to explore, which is continuously and in every direction simultaneously, and watching him move through the townhouse's

POV: Callum | Deepest sublevel, ancient asylum roomThe shields Fell has built around himself and the chamber are the layered kind, three deep, the outer one a pressure barrier and the second one a heat dispersion field and the third one something older and more specific that I cannot categorize from the outside but which has the quality of a ward keyed to a particular kind of energy, and I have been standing at the edge of the outer shield for four minutes understanding the geometry of them and understanding that the gun in my hand is not useless but is also not simple.Fell is behind the third shield with the chamber on the table beside him, and the chamber is humming at its operating pitch, which means it is intact and functioning, which means what is inside it is intact and functioning, and I am holding that fact in the part of my mind that is not managing the geometry of the shields while the part that is managing the geometry of the shields works on the angle. The angle is the g

POV: Isla | Ancient asylum levelThe chamber comes off the table and I am already moving before I have consciously decided to move, which is what three years of medical work in crisis environments produces, which is the body acting on pattern recognition before the thinking part of the mind has completed its assessment, and the pattern here is falling object, fragile, irreplaceable, and my hands are under the chamber before it hits the floor. The impact travels through my arms and into my shoulders and I absorb it the way you absorb a blow you are braced for, by letting the force move through rather than stopping it at the point of contact, and the chamber is in my hands and it is intact, the seals holding, the hum of the preservation equipment continuing at its correct pitch, and I know it is intact because the pitch does not change and the pitch is the thing I have been tracking since the moment the chamber came open and Lucia became visible inside it.Fell and Callum are on the flo

POV: Tom | St. Thomas site, all levelsThe building has been compromised at the structural level, which is what happens when you conduct a raid across four simultaneous floors of a building that was abandoned six years ago and which has been maintained by one obsessive researcher rather than by any institutional maintenance program, and the compromised structure has been communicating itself to me through the ward system for the past twenty minutes, which is the ward system's specific way of telling me that the thing I have been holding together is not going to hold together much longer without additional input. The additional input I can provide is the fae ability that has been consuming my body from the inside for four years and which has a year left in it if I am careful, which is what the healer told me in February, and which has considerably less than a year left in it if I use it at the level that holding a compromised building together for the time it takes everyone to get out
