The way Kimberly looked after telling me what she went to will forever be burned into my memory. She looked like she thought the event somehow defined her entire life. When the kids came to check on her she was not her usual bubbly and unapologetic self. It looks like she shrank into herself. It was really a mission to get her to eat her breakfast after I asked the kids to bring it to our room. Bethany even crawled into our bed with her after she ate the rest of the breakfast Kim left uneaten. Nathan on the other hand was about to send in Robert to take revenge on me for ‘hurting Kim’. The little man had squared up and was ready to swing until I told him it was not me but I am going to make the person responsible for it pay. I got dressed, placed a kiss on both Kim and Bethany’s foreheads before going out of the room to meet with Robert. My parents kind of already knew what was going on because before I could let them know I was going out, mom already wrapped her arms around me i

KIMBERLY’S POVBy the time Christopher and Robert get home, it is already a few minutes past midnight. Both their faces look ashen. Like they discovered something really unsettling. Neither of them sees me so they keep staring into space. “What took you guys so long?” I decided to break the silence. They both get startled and immediately put smiles on their faces. I have never seen smiles faker than these ones.“Okay what's going on?” “What are you talking about?” Chris asks, feigning confusion. “Well for starters, both of you are practically baring your teeth at me. I don't know how you don't realise that all your teeth are out. Secondly you practically looked like you had seen a ghost when you got in the house. So tell me what is going on. What did you find when you left?”He blows a breath and looks at Robert. “Nope, Robert, you know how much I respect you right?” he nods. “Good so dont be offended but i need you to go to your room. Chris needs this talk alone.”“My room?” he as

I got dressed in a pair of black jeans, Christopher's sweatshirt and sneakers. Christopher also wore black jeans with a sweatshirt but his sneakers were white. When the kids saw what we wore they wanted to match us, so they changed. When we all met in the living room, everyone was ready to go. Or so I thought. “You kids have fun.” irina says, confusing me since i thought we were all going to the mall together. “Are you not coming grandma?” Bethany asks before I could. Irina just shakes her head. “Your grandfather and I are going to our house. We have been here for a long time and our house misses us. But that does not mean that we won't see you again okay? Don’t make trouble for your parents okay?” she says and the last thing she said registers in my mind at the same time as it did for Chris because we looked at each other. The kids just nod and hug them before we leave. Logan and Terry escort them back home on their bikes as Rob follows our car in his. “Why does uncle rob not

Three months later.CHRISTOPHER’S POVBethany and Nathan have officially been adopted and they are schooling where Killian and I studied. Bethany also calls me dad. Only when she wants something though, usually she calls me big brother. Nathan straight forward calls me by my name. He said he is not going to call me big brother if he does not call Kimberly big sister.Speaking of Kimberly, ever since everyone who was a threat to her died she has been sleeping a lot. Bethany joined her at first but now she says that the way Kim is sleeping is unusual. It is either she naps a lot or she vomits when she smells egg, chicken and her favourite, mango. When I suggested that we should get her a doctor’s appointment, she refused citing that her body is just getting used to living and not surviving only. Her position at the company was restored a month after Quinton died when they could not find any evidence of the actions that the comment claimed she did. They even had to interview her nanny t
