Dominic’s POV The hallway outside Evelyn’s room was quiet. Machines hummed faintly on the other side of the door, and I could hear her father’s low voice speaking to the doctor. When he finally stepped out, he looked tired, older than I remembered.“Mr. Northwood,” I said, standing straight. “She’s stable now. The doctor said—”He lifted a hand, cutting me off gently. “I know.
