CHAPTER TWOSerena's POV"Look what the cat dragged in," she let out an evil chuckle, completely amused by my physical state. I stared right back at her. I refuse to cower in shame even though my soaked clothes clung to me like a second skin. “Move Tyra, I’m not in the mood for your dramatics.”Her smirk faltered for a while. She didn’t expect me to lash back immediately. Tyra had been my best friend during our childhood. She was the only child of our pack’s former beta. We were inseparable until it was time for our wolf transformation. Tyra was graced with a beautiful wolf with auburn fur matching the colour of her long, flowy hair. She was beyond excited because it was huge and majestic. However, things took a drastic turn when my wolf wouldn't emerge. We all thought it was a glitch at first and decided to give it a little time. As time progressed, it became clear that I wasn't blessed with one. I quickly became the pack's outcast which didn't sit well with a purist like Tyra.

My fingers trembled, betraying the nonchalant persona I was trying to embody.The pack elders council sat at the elevated podium as they looked down on everyone.The council consists of wolves as old as this pack. They were particularly chosen as the wise ones of this pack to enforce pack laws. They formed a semi-circle around the stump that the defaulter was made to stand. CHAPTER 10SERENA’S POVDawn came too early. Light peeked through my window waking me up to begin my day. The events that occurred last night flashed through my mind but I shook them off immediately. I got down from my bed to do my routine meditation but was interrupted by two guards. They barely said a word to me as they led me out of the tower. My chest bubbled with excitement. Finally I was leaving that stuffy tower. I trailed behind them, lost in my own thoughts. We passed what looked like a training center. I could spot several lycans sparring. Some of them paused to stare at me. I scanned the crowd for a certain lycan with dark hair and ember eyes. But Kai wasn’t there. I wouldn’t be surprised if he decided to ignore me for the rest of my stay in his pack. At least I could work with that. I needed the distance to stay focused. We got to the clinic. It was huge, five times bigger than the one I was used to at the Blackwood pack. It looked impenetrable like the other building
