Dax's POV"I did," I said, and kept walking.South of the burned town, following the road the refugees had taken, I found the barn.It was small, stone walls and a wooden roof with half the planks rotted through, and I stopped in the doorway.The wolf behind me said "Alpha, what is this place?" and I said "wait outside" and my voice came out so flat he took a step back and went without arguing.The smell of old blood hit me, months old but still in the dirt, soaked in deep where nothing would wash it out.I went in and found where the blood was darkest and my legs didn't buckle because I wouldn't let them.
