Her Return, His Regret 의 모든 챕터: 챕터 51 - 챕터 60

***~~Soren~~***I couldn't breathe right. The second I opened the door, I stilled.Cameron is leaning so close to Lilah. She didn't even flinch, nothing. He just lets him.My stomach twist watching them. And somehow it felt like I couldn't breathe in enough air.Just then, Hunter's words echoed in my head, loud. It's not me you should be worried about but Cameron.Did I miss out on something while we were together? How didn't I see it?What's his intention now?To get to me?He wasn't even being subtle about trying to ragebait me.I could look past all of his shit but not when he brings it to Lilah. My eyes are on her and for some weird reason she rolls hers.“You shouldn't be barging into my office like that,”“I did knock but turns out you were busy…with my brother,” I gesture toward the door. Her chin rises a little.“How may I help you?” She cuts in, clearly skipping past it.“Lilah—,” A slip, she noticed and I could've sworn I saw her gulp hard. I gather my thoughts. “Here. It'

****~~Unknown~~****I'm halfway through signing a document in my home office when a knock comes in.Carla, my assistant walks in, offering a curt nod as she hands me the file. “The sleuth sent this,”I push the document I'm about to sign aside and flip that one open. When it's him. I just want to give it my all.Maybe it's the guilt eating at me, or I just wanted to do something right for him, even though it's discreet.A small smile tugs at the corner of my lips. “He chose the best one, that's — impressive,” I mutter, unable to stop grinning. “This site gives him a leverage, somehow, and I'm confident he'd scale through.”I've always known he's smart, that he'd survive no matter how tough life gets.I've got Eden who feeds me about it all. Bless him.I turn to Carla. “Please make sure you follow through, report directly and if he ever encounters any problem, let me know immediately.”Someone clears his throat behind her.I look straight ahead to see Aaron, my husband, leaning again

***~~Dahlia~~***It dawns on me at this moment that I probably should've peeped before getting the door.I don't want to believe what I'm seeing. It was easier to think that she had forgotten all about me.She's much thinner, her collarbone jutting sharply beneath the thin fabric of her tank top. Her hair is black — except it looks like it's not been washed in weeks.. months. Who am I kidding? Probably years. My mother was looking horrible to say the least, worse than she's ever been in years. My eyes trails further. Her pupils is dilated and her arm covered in…needle mark?My chest tightens and I look up.“Mom?” I let out for lack of what to say, my eyes still there, on her arm.She catches my gaze and runs her hand over it, trying to cover up. “It’s really true, you're alive.” she said, her eyes welling up with tears. “I knew you wouldn't die on me,”My eyes hasn't moved from her. The last time I saw her was at Blake's and she looked more human. No cracks or whatever it is she's be

***~~Soren~~***Days later and my mind is in turmoil.I had gone silent but Grandpa's implication isn't lost on me.My mom had gone to meet someone. He suspects it isn't a natural death. But a question gnaws at me.Why now?Why bring it up now?I was seven, asked never to speak about her. I can barely even picture her face. Dad took out all her photos. It felt like I was dancing around landmines with every mention of her name.I wasn't even allowed to cry at her funeral, Dad says it’s a weakness. But I can recall fragments of my sixth birthday with her handing me a giant mascot and a locket. That's all there is.Even those were taken away from me.I couldn't hold on to any memory of her except the tiny bits in my head.I want to say this doesn't bother me.I want to forget like I've been asked to.To never speak about it.But no. It does bother me, because I deserve to know, because she's my mom and I'm done with all the shitty rules. Grandpa said he'd look into it, that I should f

***~~Dahlia~~***I tap on my knees, listening to the waiting tone.It rings once, twice. No response. This should be it.If he won't take the call, I should leave be it be. But I don't.I dial again, mentally telling myself it'll be the last one.It rings and then a soft click.I shift slightly. “Hi,” I let out, forcing the word out before I change my mind. “You've not been at the office,”But it's not Soren on the phone. It's a woman.“What is it to you?!”I pause, my fist hard against the device. “Ashley?”I know it's her.Of course I do.What I don't understand is why she'd take his call. She chuckles slightly, her voice chills me, somehow. “You have no shame, Delilah. Calling someone else's man at this time, isn't this past working hours bitch!?”I clench my fists, anger boiling inside me.“Cat cut your tongue now?” She sneered. “I know you want him back, but news flash, he's with me now, quit trying.”I should say something, a comeback, laugh at her, anything…but I don't, I rec
