  Catherine’s POV Leo shoved my hands away the second I tried helping him stand properly. “Get off me,” he muttered, words slurring together. Wow,even in his drugged state he wanted nothing to do with me. He staggered sideways immediately after, gripping the edge of the dining table to steady himself. His breathing sounded uneven now, heavier than before, and sweat lined the side of his forehead. The aphrodisiac was definitely working.Maybe even stronger than I expected.His jaw clenched tightly while he fought to stay balanced on both legs. The ocean breeze drifted through the condo windows, moving the curtains softly while tension swallowed the entire room whole. “Come on,” I said quietly. “You need to lie down.” “I’m fine.”

  Leo’s POV When I woke up, it felt like someone had split my skull open and stuffed concrete inside. A sharp pounding slammed against my temples with every heartbeat. I groaned under my breath and pressed the heel of my palm against my forehead, squeezing my eyes shut as if that would somehow stop the pain. It didn’t. The room spun lazily around me. What the hell? I took in a slow breath, trying to steady myself, but even breathing felt wrong. My chest felt tight. My mouth was dry. My body felt heavy in a way I hated. I forced myself to think. Last night. Beach. Catherine. Dinner. That stupid conversation about weddings. Then... Nothing. 

  Leo’s POV The words didn’t settle right in my head.They circled, repeated, rearranged themselves like they were trying to become something believable. “You said you were tired… you went to the room… I came later… and one thing led to another…” Catherine’s voice stayed steady. Almost rehearsed. Too steady for something she claimed happened between us. I sat still.Not because I was listening.Because I was trying to force memory into place and finding nothing but blank space where it should have been. That was the problem. If it happened the way she said it did… I should remember something.Anything.But there was nothing.No fragments. No flashes. No sensation of continuity.Just a clean, unsettling gap. 

Leo's pov The beach felt too open.I wandered aimlessly across the shoreline, my feet sinking into wet sand as waves chased themselves toward me like restless ghosts. The salty wind whipped against my skin, but it did nothing to clear my head.Nothing could.Not after what Catherine had said.Not after finding out there was no way out of this marriage.Ever.The word wrapped around my throat like chains.Marriage.The very thing that was supposed to feel like partnership somehow felt more like a life sentence every passing hour. And the worst part was that everyone else around me acted like it was normal. Like I should simply accept it and move on.I stared blankly at the ocean.A few hours ago, Catherine’s naked body against mine had been enough to distract me from everything. Now, even the memory of it felt complicated. Twisted. Like there was something hidden underneath every touch she gave me.Punishment.That was what seeing her felt like now.Not desire.Not comfort.Punishment

  Catherine's Pov The sick son of a bastard. The thought repeated itself in my head over and over again like a cursed song I couldn’t switch off.I took another sip of my cocktail, the alcohol burning slightly down my throat before settling warm in my chest. Usually that warmth comforted me. Today it did absolutely nothing. The beach bar buzzed softly with life around me. Glasses clinked. Waves crashed rhythmically against the shore nearby. Somewhere behind me, people laughed like the world wasn’t quietly collapsing. Locals who probably noticed an unfrequented bar, they where paying though so I couldn't quite judge them. The Rizz family still owned this place.Their fingerprints were on practically everything in this city. Hotels. Resorts. Schools. Politicians. Even the sky probably belonged to them. But non
