[ALESSIA'S POV] The first thing I feel is pain. Sharp, burning and radiating from my leg up to my entire body. The second thing I feel is a hand holding mine. Very warm, familiar and gentle. I force my eyes open. The room is too bright and everything is white and blurry. I blink twice a face comes into focus: Jeffrey. He's sitting beside the bed with his ead resting on our joined hands and eyes closed. He looks so exhausted. Dark circles under his eyes, clothes wrinkled like he's been wearing them for days. "Jeffrey," I whisper. His eyes fly open. For a second, he just stares at me like he's not sure if I'm real. Then he's move, leaning over me and touching my face, my hair, my shoulders like he needs to confirm I'm actually here. "You're awake. Oh God, you're awake." "Hi." My voice sounds rough. Broken. "Hi." He's crying. Tears streaming down his face. "You scared me. You scared me so much." "I'm sorry." "Don't apologize. Don't you dare apologize." He kisses my forehead.
