Dahlia swayed, her hand flying to the edge of the table for support. The taxi dropped Dahlia at the grand entrance of the Scott Hotel, where crystal chandeliers spilled light onto polished marble like molten gold. Music throbbed faintly behind thick glass doors. Just from the tight security around, Dahlia knew Anna must have booked the entire hotel in case her guests got too drunk to go home. Dahlia would have rather been anywhere else, but she needed time to investigate and get her divorce in order so she had to play along for the meantime. When she woke up the next morning, Dahlia felt much better and was hungry. She decided to take a shower and then headed downstairs for breakfast. Surprisingly, Silas wasn’t in his usual suit but was dressed casually in a T-shirt and sweatpants. He sat at the table, wearing reading glasses while holding a cup of coffee, and a newspaper in the other hand.
