Lahat ng Kabanata ng Flames in my heart: Kabanata 31 - Kabanata 40

We burst into the bedroom in time to see Hopes body crumble to black ash that vanishes into thin air. I catch a flicker of something bright head towards the window- her soul maybe?“Hope” Ben let out a scream that I’m sure could be heard from miles away. Hearing him scream like that makes me feel like I’m going to be sick. Where did her body go? We had no idea what kind of curse it was despite reading for hours. “What did you give to me?” he screamed again. “It was a potion to separate your souls, she was killing you” I choked, still in shock. “I think his soul might have been the only thing keeping her here.” Rod said his eyes wide. Ben falls to his knees and hits the floor with a thump. Rod has tears streaming down his face too. My heart hurt so much for them I swear it wasn’t beating properly. “You killed her” he sobbed. “We were just trying to save you” I said tears flowing from my eyes. “I need to get the fuck out of this place” Ben paced. “You can’t leave,

I was so tired I didn’t know how I was going to swim, I just wanted all this to be over, maybe once we get to the place on the map we would finally be able to rest for a while. We put on the scuba gear and Grissom hands all of us a small shell “put this little guy in your ear, he’s enchanted and we will be able to communicate while we are under the water.”I wish I knew we were swimming, I would have brought us potions to make use breathe underwater. Nothing I can do now, so I do as he says, the shell tickles the inside of my ear. Once we are geared up we begin yet another journey. “The waters freezing” Tyler complained dipping his toe in. “Don’t be such a baby” I said, “The last time I had gone swimming something tried to drown me.”“Well I was kidnapped” he tried to one up me. “So was I you dink” I slapped his arm. I was glad to have him back. We walk as far as we can and then we dive into the water swimming along the bottom. I’ve never gone scuba diving before and

What was I going to say? I was just in there fucking Rod?“I checked on you first and you were asleep” Rod pipes up, “then I went to check on Clara. It’s been a long couple days for all of us.”Tyler walks out of his room saving us from an awkward conversation “Are you guys ready for dinner?” “Yeah, do any of you know where the dining hall is?” Ben asked. “No but we have some time to explore” Tyler said leading the way down the halls. I am still amazing that we are inside water but it is as if we are on land, I am not wet and I can breathe. A child merfolk with bright purple hair swims up to me “hi you’re pretty.”She was beautiful too, her skin flawless , “thank you, you are too.” I poked her nose. “Can I see your toes?” She asked. I laughed and let her see them. “Gosh those are so cool” she giggled. I tickle her fin “you know this is pretty neat too.”“But you can walk on land” she flips her fin. “Stay a away the humans, come now!” a merfolk I imagined was her

The shelves are lined with clams, I guess these are their books. I grabbed one from the shelf and open it up, there are no pages inside. How am I supposed to read these?I look over and see one of the mermaids holding it up to his ear. I put the clam to my ear, suddenly I can hear the words of the book in my mind. This doesn’t sound like the book I needed so I put it back on the shelves and wander the rows of clams looking for something that catches my eye. It turns out it’s not easy looking for something when you don’t know what that something is. The librarian walks in my direction once she is done reading to the children. “I don’t expect you to remember me, but I am Gilda, I would recognize your soul anywhere.”“I’m sorry I don’t remember you.” Why didn’t my soul sense hers if we had met before?“You used to come here often, especially before the war when witches were welcome to come and go as they pleased” her voice cracked. I wondered what that had been like; witches

“No” king Salazar falls to his knees, “you wicked people, you will pay for this.”My vision tunnels. I can’t believe what I just saw. Tyler is on his knees screaming. “I hate seeing you like this, you’ll be happy to hear, we have one last surprise for you before we go. Maybe if you’re lucky you’ll join your mother shortly” he hunter smiles and nods his head at the other hunters. In sequence they begin throwing objects that stick to the side of the dome. What are those things?“Good luck, I suspect you might need it” the leader said before they all started to disappear. No sooner did they leave do the things in the walls start exploding one by one, taking the side of the dome down. I’m having trouble breathing; I’m not sure if it’s from the weight of losing my mother crashing down on me or the hunters destroying the dome wall. The dome must be the magical barrier that makes it possible for us to breathe in here. I can’t catch my breathe. I look over at Tyler and he is gasp
