He was probably dumbfounded by my new found courage. The audacity to breathe such words without biting a lip. Like I’d forgotten whom I belong to. But I was serious. I meant every word. The box was wrongly familiar. Same elegant color, same ribbon style, same size as Lucien’s gift box. The one he left me in front of the gift pile in my room. “Sophie… what’s that?
