Lahat ng Kabanata ng Rejected and Regretted: The Alpha King Wants Me : Kabanata 81 - Kabanata 90

Ava's POV By evening, things around the mansion had become strangely calm again. After everything that happened over the last twenty-four hours, I had honestly expected the atmosphere to stay tense for a while. I expected awkward glances, uncomfortable silence, or at least some lingering hostility hanging around the house. But surprisingly, the mansion had returned to its usual rhythm. The servants moved around normally, voices occasionally echoed through the hallways, and even Dominic seemed lighter after speaking with Viola earlier. I wasn't sure what exactly happened between them after I left yesterday, but whatever it was, things seemed better. At least from the outside.Dinner had already been prepared by the time I entered the dining room, and I immediately noticed that almost everyone was already seated.Dominic sat at his usual spot with Sebastian beside him, casually scrolling through something on his phone. Elena was speaking quietly with one of the staff while Viola sat n

Ava's POV After Viola walked away earlier, I tried convincing myself that her words didn't matter. I told myself that she was only trying to get under my skin. I told myself that Dominic loved me and that should have been enough. I told myself a lot of things. The problem was that my mind wasn't listening to any of them.Because no matter how much I tried distracting myself, her words kept finding their way back."I think Elaine is perfect for Dominic.""I'll do everything to make sure Elaine becomes Luna."I hated it.Not because I thought Dominic would suddenly stop loving me and run into Elaine's arms. That wasn't it. I trusted him. I trusted the way he looked at me, the way he held me, and the way he defended me.But there was a tiny part of me, a small, annoying part, that kept whispering things I didn't want to hear.Elaine is stronger. Elaine already knows this life. People already like her.And what made it worse was that Viola hadn't even sounded like she was trying to insul

Ava's POV For some reason, I had been feeling uneasy all morning. It wasn't one of those feelings that came suddenly and disappeared after a few minutes. It had followed me from the moment I woke up, sitting heavily in my chest like an invisible weight pressing down on me.No matter how much I tried distracting myself, I couldn't get rid of it. I had hoped keeping myself occupied around the nursery would help take my mind away from whatever was making me feel this way, but even surrounded by laughter and noise, my thoughts kept drifting elsewhere. The truth was, I knew exactly what was making me anxious. Dominic was meeting Lucien today. Ever since Dominic mentioned it, I had tried pretending that I wasn't bothered by it, but that had been nothing more than an act. The closer the hours passed, the more my thoughts kept becoming restless. Maybe because lately, it felt like my past had suddenly remembered I existed. One person resurfaced, then another. One memory after another came c

Ava's POV By evening, I had already checked the time more times than I wanted to admit. At first, I wasn't worried. Dominic sometimes got busy with work and returned later than expected, especially whenever something important came up involving the pack or business matters. I understood that much already. Being with Dominic meant understanding that his responsibilities didn't simply disappear because we wanted quiet moments together. But this felt different. Because Dominic had told me he wouldn't be too long. And Dominic was usually very careful about keeping his word. The sun had already begun disappearing beyond the horizon, painting the sky with shades of orange and fading purple. The pack grounds had slowly started becoming quieter too. People had returned indoors while lights around the mansion and nearby buildings had begun turning on one after another. And still...No sign of Dominic.I sighed and stared down at my phone again. There were no messages, nothing to keep me rest

Ava's POV The elegant aesthetic of the spa was supposed to make anyone feel at home almost immediately when they enter, but in my own case, it only reminded me that Elaine was going to be around Dominic throughout today. And I would be here, overthinking and pretending to feel excited about getting a massage or a pedicure. Whatever Elena had planned for the three of us.We got invited into a cozy, dim lit room, with provided beds and comfortable, warm robes.I was the last to put on my robe, and when I finally figured out how to tie the ropes, I came out of the restroom, only to find Viola sleeping close to the next empty bed that was mine. She was on her phone, until she glanced up at me with a repelling look, like my presence had suddenly interrupted her peace.I went anyway, ignoring her.One of the masseuses was already waiting, ready to give me what I'd assume would be a good body massage. I mean, looking at Elena, who slept just close to Viola's bed, an eye pillow covering her
