The American girl.

Luc's POV.“That will be all for today,” I told my secretary, and closed the laptop. She nodded and walked out of the office. As soon as the door closed, I let out a sigh of relief, feeling the heavy tension that had settled in my chest.I still couldn't believe I had sex with a stranger. I can't believe I had a threesome with my stepson. That bastard. He was going to pay for it.I really shouldn't have done that. I should have walked away. But instead, I walked into his trap and got hooked in it.Amaya deserved better. Even though there was nothing between us. There was no relationship between us except for the ones our fathers signed for us.Amaya and I were betrothed as teenagers. She was really beautiful, but I never liked her. I never liked her family.I did everything I could to break the engagement, but Amaya, being her father's daughter, saw through all my plans, and doubled down on the engagement.Well, that did little to stop me because I left home shortly after she declared

The wrong door.

Elara's POV.I was in my room going through a particular recipe that I had spent half my life trying to create when my phone beeped. It was a post alert from a friend of Silas.I thought I had blocked all of them when Silas threw me out and none of them supported me.I wanted to block him right away when curiosity got the better of me and I clicked on the notification. It was a picture of Silas and that whore at a yacht party, celebrating some achievement.I scoffed, and despite the tears forming in my eyes, I still scrolled through all the pictures — until my eyes caught one.It was a picture of me.A picture I'd taken a long time ago when we were still in college.I remembered that day vividly because it was the day we celebrated Silas's acceptance into one of the best football clubs in the world. And I remembered how Silas had ignored me for most of the party. I'd left the crowd for a secluded area by the pool, staring deep into the water to reassure myself that Silas still loved m

Cornered.

Elara's POV.My whole body went still. My head screamed at me to do something. But my body had completely forgotten what it was supposed to do. Except my eyes, which did everything except look away.My eyes ran all over his body, taking in every part of his perfect frame.I felt a strange sensation when my eyes landed on his big, sleeping cock.I swallowed hard as my brain started playing and telling me things it shouldn't.It was still big in its sleeping state.Running my mouth down that thing...Fuck it, Elara.“Are you done fucking it with your eyes, or do you want privacy?”My eyes snapped back to him.“W-what?” I whispered. He raised a brow.“Oh, oh. I'm so sorry,” I quickly said, looking away, my hands raised up as a shield. But my eyes didn't agree with my sense of decency. They kept moving back to him.He let out a dark chuckle and shook his head. Then he ran a hand through his wet hair.Get a towel, dude.“What are you doing here?” he asked as he picked up his towel from the

Caged by him.

Elara's POV.I tried to push him away, but every attempt felt like pushing against a thick wall.He laughed, as if he found my discomfort amusing. For someone like him, it was completely normal.“I didn't mean to do that,” I defended. “My hands just clicked on the screen.”“Really?” He grinned. “Your hands just took you to my page and went through all my photos, only to like the two personal ones deliberately taken to show people there were two sides of me.”Evil and cruel.Yeah, they were both lovely sides.I inhaled deeply and looked away.It was obvious I couldn't get him away from me, so I should just ignore him and pray he got bored and let me go.“Your hands really know how to work,” he whispered, his lips brushing against my skin.I swallowed the lump in my throat as heat passed through me, moving rapidly to parts that shouldn't even be active in this situation.I closed my eyes to try and steady my racing heart. Then I opened them and turned to him, my expression unreadable—I

I want out.

Author's POV.“Gosh, your ring is so beautiful,” Amaya's friend, Ginger, blushed as Amaya waved the huge diamond ring at their faces.“One of a kind,” she beamed. “Luc got it customised. Which means there's only one of this kind in the world.”“I wonder how much it cost,” Marie, another friend, said, leaning forward to check the ring.“Does it matter?” Amaya laughed. “All that matters is that Luc and I would get married very soon.”The two women nodded and took a sip of their tea.“What's in it?” Marie asked, placing the rim of her teacup below her nose. “It smells so good.”“Yeah, we got a new chef,” Amaya revealed. “An American chef.”“American?” Ginger repeated like it was something bitter, her facial expression flicking to disgust. “Why would you get an American chef? Their food is bland. Have you lost your taste buds?”“Be nice, Ginger,” Amaya scolded. “Elara is a young, talented girl and she's good. She cooks well.”“Yeah, some carrot soup,” Marie added. The women laughed.“She'

A war worth starting.

Antoine's POV. “Antoine!”I heard Amaya’s voice before I saw her.She marched into the pool area, her fists clenched and jaw tight. She looked like she was a minute away from exploding.I slowly removed my sunglasses as she walked over.“What is the meaning of what you did?” she glared, placing her hands on her hips. “Do you really want to start a war with me? Are you that desperate?”I didn’t flinch. She was the one who came into my space. Everyone knew better than to disturb me when I was relaxing at the pool. She should know that.Yet, she ignored it, and I’m the problem.I shifted my body on the chair, getting comfortable, and slowly pulled my sunglasses back down over my eyes.“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” I said, my voice calm and flat. “Now leave before I make you.”She let out a sharp laugh. “I dare you, Antoine.”As much as I’d like to accept that challenge, it just wasn’t worth hearing Luc’s voice, moaning over the death of his fiancée.I turned my face slight

A bigger knife.

Elara's POV.Amaya had successfully, unintentionally made the situation worse. I kept begging her that it was a slip of the tongue, that nothing happened between us, but she insisted that Antoine should be arrested.I haven't seen Antoine since the day she confronted him, but I knew damn well the only thing that was going to change was him boldly making my life miserable in the house.I wanted to run away, but I remembered I had no money, no friends, no family... basically no one I could rely on. And I refuse to go back to sleeping in tents to survive. After breakfast, I stared at the small knife in the knife block, dangerous and stupid thoughts filling my mind—ones I knew I couldn't bring myself to act on even if I wanted to.Antoine has been missing for two fucking days. A normal person would be relieved, but I wasn't. Anxiety gnawed at me from the inside out. I couldn't eat. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't even take a deep breath without being scared of making a sound.I hope Amaya go

One word away.

Luc's POV.“And why should I agree to this?” I asked. “She clearly wants to leave, and we can't stop her.”“Don't you understand?” Amaya frowned, folding her arms across her chest. “My father's birthday is in a few days. He deserves an unforgettable birthday. It's bad enough we had to postpone the wedding.”The wedding. The mere mention of that word made my blood boil.“Paris is a big city. You can hire anyone you want,” I said. “Do you realize that so many people would kill to be in that position?”“Do you realize that your fiancée is a picky person?” she shot back. “If only you spent as much time with your fiancée as you spend trimming your gray nose hair.”No. You're just a spoiled brat. Your friends are too scared to point it out.I exhaled deeply, pinching the bridge of my nose. “I've been busy, and you know that.”“You've been too busy to even look at your fiancée?” she scoffed. “I know this wedding is nothing but another business deal to you, but the least you could do is put s

Dancing with fire

Elara's POVI had to take the offer. It was just too good to decline. All I had to do was stay and help with Amaya's father's birthday preparations. In return, she would pay me a reasonable amount of money, and then I could disappear like nothing had ever happened.Although the offer didn't come with protection against Antoine and Luc, I refused to let those bastards get to me.So, I decided to confront Antoine myself. Not the best decision, but I had to show him that I wasn't scared of him and wouldn't hesitate to fight back if I needed to.As soon as Antoine returned from whatever hole he'd disappeared into, I followed him to his room. For the first time, I saw a look of shock on his face.“What are you doing here?” he asked, taking a step forward. “I didn't call for your services.”Just like I didn't call for this kind of life, I said in my head.“Do you need something?” he asked.“I just came to talk,” I replied. He inhaled deeply before pulling his shirt off.“Whoa!” I screamed,

The jealous devil.

Antoine's POVI walked through the busy crowd quietly, letting my presence announce the change of authority in the room. The music blared loudly in the background. People danced wildly to the rhythm. Bodies clung to each other like animals in a mating season. The annoying sound of unnecessary laughter and chatter filled the air, mixed with the smell of cheap alcohol.I was wild, but I hated parties.Parties were just filled with women who were willing to throw themselves at me because of my last name—a name I never accepted or bore. And one couldn't get used to the loud noise they called music. I was more of an instrumental type, not... whatever they called the music they destroyed their ears with.I only attended parties hosted by close friends that I couldn't turn down, and those friends better have something that would distract me.But this time, I was the one who threw the party—for secret business purposes.“What's up, dude?” Arthur shouted as soon as he saw me. He pushed the gir
