Sitting in front of the same vanity I had all of those years ago, my long-lost mother I thought I would never see again stood behind me, placing my hair in delicate ponytails to be cut evenly, it was all I ever wanted. But the harsh stories which were leaving her lips, made such sadness but also slight fear to form in the pit of my stomach as though what Buddy had told me, was about to finally, break out the mental cage I had placed it in. “Your father and I both refused to give in to my father and his terms, furious, my father locked me away from your father and proclaimed he’d never see me again.
