~Brady~ Mom has used me as her handyman, errand boy, and heavy lifter since I got back from dropping Lindsey off. “Hey Mom. I need to go to shifter training. I’m going to be late if I don’t go now.” I hope this will be enough to get me out of work. “Nonsense. You’ll go to the late one if you go at all. I need you here.” “What do you mean if I go at all?” I haven’t missed a practice unless it was pack business. Dad said it’s important that I attend to be as strong as possible. It takes a while before I get a response. “Because I said so. And you’re helping me with pack business.” I decide to be sneaky and mind link Dad. “Mom isn’t letting me go to shifter training today.” “Ok.” That’s it. That’s all Dad says. “Ok? But I thought it was important for me to grow stronger with my wolf.” “It is. But an alpha’s most important job is keeping his luna happy. That’s what you’re learning this week.” Damn. This mate bond thing must be strong. “So how will I get stronger?” “

~Brady~ I’m resisting every urge to punch this smug son of a bitch. Where does he get off in causing Lindsey pain? “Why the hell would you do that?” Deanna asks. I’m a little shocked. She’s always been the perfect lady; hearing her cuss at a guest is not like her at all. “Because she needed to know. She mentioned her earlier when she told me my beta is trying to get into contact with me. She needs to know that Jessie is not her friend.” He continues eating like nothing happened. “I don’t know why you’re all upset. We should be thanking him,” Callie says smirking. She tosses her head to the side, which I’ve noticed she does when she’s either irritated or sassy. “Thanking him? Lindsey is hurt now.” Willie says defensively. I’m glad to hear them standing up for Lindsey; at least she has true friends here. “Yep. Thanking him. One less thing to tie her to White Fang.” She smiles mischievously. “I value honesty in my relationships. Lindsey will make new friends when she c

~Lindsey~ My jaw drops in response. “Jagger, I don’t hate you. Grant usually takes me to school. He’s just running behind today.” He turns to me and grabs my hands. “Lindsey, I talked to so many omegas in the pack house yesterday. I know Brady was supposed to pick you up today. I knew your dad would never want us home alone. I came here hoping to have some alone time with you. We need to talk. I want us to move forward.” I sigh, trying to push down any old feelings. “We can move forward, just not together. I’ve changed, and so have you. And that’s great! We’re supposed to grow and learn. I just can’t be who you need me to be anymore.” “Lindsey, you can be whoever and whatever you want to be. As long as you’re mine. I’ll give you time. I’ll let you see if you have a destined mate if you want. But I want you to come back and rule White Fang with me. It’s always been you. I was just blinded by my wolf’s attachment to Gemma to see it.” I take a deep breath in to steady me. Jagger

~Lindsey~ I’m slightly pissed at Grant. He never should have lied to me. I don’t have a problem telling Brady the truth, but I could have broken it to him more easily if Grant hadn’t tricked me. I’ve been in a sour mood most of the day. Between Grant’s trickery, Jagger’s pursuit of me, and Brady’s struggle to hold it together, I have decided that I’d rather be curled up in a blanket at home, hiding from all the drama. Not to mention I’m gaining more male attention, Logan leading the way. I’ve heard enough cheesy pick up lines to last a lifetime. We finally make it to training, and I make my way out of the locker rooms onto the gym floor. Brady is waiting for me with a smile. “You ok? You’ve seemed off today.” “Yeah. It’s just been a long crazy day. I’m just ready to go home.” I sigh. “Not much longer. And I’ll take the shortcut back to your house,” he winks. “So you have been taking the long way home. I figured as much,” I smile. I don’t know why he always makes me feel

~Lindsey~ I’m putting the brownies in the oven when Dad and Brady walk through the back door. I had to do something to get my mind off of what they were talking about. Is Dad angry? Does he think I’d hook up with someone on the back porch for everyone to see? Has he lost all trust in me?I take a deep breath to settle my anxiety. “Well how was your talk? Productive?” My voice doesn’t sound too shaky, I think. Dad smiles. “You don’t have anything to worry about. We were just laying out the ground rules. What are you making?” He knows me so well. I return the smile. “Fudge brownies. I got a craving for some. They should be done in a few.”“Need help cleaning up?” Brady offers with a smile. There’s no fear or hesitation or nerves at all. Maybe they did have a good conversation. “Sure. If you could wipe down the counters, that would be a big help.” I smile, putting back the containers of flour and sugar. We work in harmony and talk casually. Dad seems at ease around Brady which makes
