Lahat ng Kabanata ng Too Late To Beg, My Alpha: Kabanata 21 - Kabanata 30

Rayan's POVI needed bolts to fix the machine, and that was the entire reason I went into town on a Wednesday afternoon. The east fence post had been loose for a week, and I had been meaning to get to it, and I got to it. Hardware store, twenty minutes, back before dinner. Simple.Kael's bar was on the way back, and I had not eaten since morning, so I stopped. That was all it was.The place was quiet, the way it got mid-week; three or four tables were occupied, and the television in the corner was showing something nobody was watching. I ordered at the bar and took my plate to the far side of the room, and that was when I heard the name. Some men at the other side of the room were talking about that wretch who had found her way to our pack. Not her full name, just Ashwood.I stopped. The table to my left had three men. I half-recognized the way you half-recognized people in a town this size. The one with his back to me, I had done boundary business with twice, a man called Ferris who

Darryn's POVThe bag had been taking it for forty minutes, and I was not done and left right, left, right.I hit harder, and the bag swung, and I hit it again on the way back, and somewhere in the impact was Dahlia's face the last time I saw it, and I hit the bag for that too.Darius.The former Alpha was found dead in his room on a Tuesday morning in October, foaming at the mouth, and the last person who had been with him was Dahlia.“She was the one who killed him.” Their voices echoed in my head. She had brought him food. His dinner was the same as any other night, and two hours later, he was gone, and the food was the only thing that made sense, and Dahlia's hands had prepared it, and Dahlia was nowhere.I hit the bag.“The evidence was clean,” a voice in my head had been saying for eighteen days, and I had been hitting things for eighteen days trying to decide whether the voice was grief or instinct, and I still did not know the answer."You've been in here since six." Bram was i

Rayan's POVThe fence line was clear.I did the check myself that morning, which I don't usually do, because Petra assigned two of the younger pack members to it, and they weren't reliable. Reliability was something I needed right now.I walked the east perimeter slowly, checked the gaps, checked road visibility, and noted the three points where someone standing on the slope could clearly see the fence line from a vehicle.Dahlia had been on this fence line three times this week.I noted that too.She is seventeen weeks now. Visible from the road if you knew what you were looking for, and I had made sure the right people knew what they were looking for.The bounty poster had gone up eight days ago. The men at Kael's bar had seen it. Word moved fast in this territory, and it moved faster when there was a number attached to it, and the number I had suggested was large enough that "fast" became "immediate."All I had to do was keep her on the fence line.Petra was handling that without r

Oryn's POVI managed to convince Senna to come back to the house with me because it wasn't safe living out here.I put Senna in my room because it was at the end of the east corridor, away from the main traffic and from Petra and Rayan's wing, with a working lock and a window that faced the garden, not the road. I took her up the back stairs with my hand on her arm and my ears on everything else, and we made it without seeing anyone, and I closed the door, turned the key, and stood with my back against it.Senna sat on the edge of my bed and looked around the room with the expression of someone relearning what indoor spaces felt like."How long since you've slept in an actual bed?” I asked as I rummaged through my wardrobe for a cover."Long enough that I'm not going to think about it," she rested her head on the pillow.I pulled the chair from the desk and sat across from her, and looked at her properly in the light for the first time. The scar was worse than I had thought in the d

Darryn's POVI was losing my mind.Months of searching and thinking about her, going to places she might be, and following leads that went nowhere had finally broken something in my head, because now I was sensing her in places she was not.The boutique, that scent.I had walked into that shop behind Hera and felt something shift in my chest, something familiar and wrong and her, and I had moved toward it without thinking and found a woman with dark hair in a braid who was not Dahlia.Just some woman with sharp eyes who had looked at me like I had done something offensive by existing. But behind her—I kept thinking there had been someone behind her. Someone crouched low between the shelves. Someone who had felt me coming the same way I had felt them, except there had been no one.I had looked, checked, and walked the entire aisle and found nothing except baby clothes and my own desperation making me see things that were not there. Two months of this, false sightings, and the specific
