Morning came swiftly. Before the sun even brightened the sky, Scarlett was awake. She hadn't slept a wink all night. She stood by the window, staring at the mountains in the distance, lost in thought. Behind her, Dylan stepped out of the bathroom. A towel was wrapped snugly around his waist, leaving the rest part of his chiselled body bare and damp. "Sweetheart," he called softly. Scarlett slowly turned around. A small smile played around her lips as she stared at him. "Are you trying to seduce me, Dylan Callahan?" She asked. If it had been under different circumstances, Dylan would have flashed his usual seductive grin. He would have pulled her close, his lips already searching hers, his body falling under her command. But this time, he just stared at her worriedly. She was trying so hard to be okay, but it was obvious the death of her father and her mother's comatose state hit her hard. He smiled warmly at her and held out a hand. "Come here."She went willingly, placing her

That evening, the entire people of Eryndor gathered at the Arena to witness Scarlett's short coronation. The Arena, a wide open space in the middle of the kingdom, had been decorated beautifully. Flowers hung from the pillars, and stringed lights illuminated the surroundings. An enormous water fountain stood in the middle, and beside it was a bronze statue of King Eddard. As the crowd gathered, a few knelt before the statue and paid their last respect. At the castle, Scarlett paced around the room worriedly. She had changed into an elegant black gown, with a full skirt and dainty sleeves. She had no jewelry on. Her red hair flowed wildly around her shoulders as she moved about. She was nervous. That burst of courage that hit her earlier that day was gone, leaving her trembling and afraid. What if the people didn't accept her? What if they rejected her as their Queen? And what if they didn't accept the plan she had about ruling Eryndor from Shadowfang? The endless questions made

Scarlett raced to the health room. She had discarded her crown, pushing it into Leah's hands before hitching up her gown and running back to the castle. She barged into the room, her eyes falling on the two nurses standing beside the bed. Her gaze shifted to the bed, and she saw Katherine lying still. For a moment, she thought she was still in a comatose state. But Katherine's hand moved slightly, and relief flooded her. Tears sprang to her eyes as she hurried to the side of the bed. "Mom?" she called out tentatively. Katherine slowly turned her head to the side. When she saw Scarlett, tears filled her own eyes. "My baby," she whispered in a hoarse, thin voice. She reached out weakly, her hands shaking with the effort she used to speak. Scarlett crawled into the bed, curled up beside Katherine and cried all over again. When she felt Katherine's weak hands clutch the back of her gown, her heart broke. "Oh mom," she sobbed. "I'm so sorry. I should have been here."The two nurses

The swearing-in ceremony was a success. The new members of the royal council swore their loyalty and allegiance to the throne. Then they were welcomed into the council hall, and the council chambers, where they would begin to live now that they were part royalty. Scarlett didn't mean to rush everything, but she had no other choice. They had to return to Shadowfang as quickly as possible. They had spent a month already in Eryndor, and they had just less than five months to find Helgar, the other elders and the twins, and stop them from bringing Andromeda back from the dead. Scarlett also needed to begin the Luna trial, so she would be crowned Luna of the pack before Dylan would turn her into a werewolf. Now, as the last of the newly sworn-in council members left the throne room, Ezekiel came up to the throne and bowed. "Your Majesty asked to see me." He said. "Yes, Zeke. I have something very important I need to share with you."She got off the throne and started to pace. On one

The next day came swiftly with dread and a million emotions. It was the first day of the Luna trial, and the pack felt the thick tension radiating into the air. Scarlett stayed on the terrace for most of the day, staring at the forest that surrounded the pack. In a few hours, she would be out there, taking on the first trial and trying to survive. She was scared, she didn't deny that, but she was clearly not backing out. Not when she had come so far. Dylan, who had been watching her from the room, stepped out and joined her. He slipped his arms around her waist, pulling her back into the warmth of his body. She sighed and let her eyes close as he leaned down and pressed a kiss to the curve of her neck. "Nervous?" he murmured. "A little," she whispered. "But please, don't try to change my mind again." "I won't," he assured her softly. "I know you really want to do this, and I won't stop you." He slowly turned her around to face him, his hands resting lightly on her hips.
