Divorced, But Taken By My Ex’s Uncle For Revenge のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 51 - チャプター 60

The moment I say yes, Nathaniel doesn’t waste time. His hand remains with mine as he leads me into the open space of the rooftop, the sound of music distant over that of my heart racing. When we finally come to a stop, I find myself unable to move. However, he takes the lead. His other hand drops on my waist gently but firmly, but he doesn’t force me to move, so I follow without thinking too hard about me as he does. At first, the dance begins slowly, our gazes locked on each other. And even as the sun continues to dip lower into the horizon, I don’t look at it. His eyes are so dark, soft like I’ve never seen them, and somewhere in the middle of staring, the sound of my heart beating wildly becomes distant noise. All I can now feel is a warm fluttery in my chest, the anxiousness in my lower belly gone, and my knees weakling the more I look. So, I break the contact. I do so because I don’t know what this is. I don’t know what this strange feeling towards him, and neither do

The engine idles quietly before I fully turn it off. We’re parked in front of the penthouse. The estate is as quiet as the night, save for the sound of Elara’s light breathing, and I remain still, my hand still on the steering wheel as if moving will change whatever silence this is. My attention, however, is fixed on her. On Elara. And she’s not looking out of the window as she’d been doing when we began our journey back home. She’s asleep. Her head is tilted slightly toward the seatbelt, her thick, dark lashes resting against her cheeks. She’s breathing steadily in a way that I don’t usually get to see from her when she’s awake. And for that moment, I just watch her. Because she looks totally different from the awake Elara that I know. She’s not looking guarded or calculating right now, and not even holding anything together. She’s simply free and unconscious, tired from the whole day. At least, I made her feel good. A strange voice at the back of my mind tells me to

The moment the words reach my ears from the other end, my body goes cold. “What?” I manage to whisper out. A strange buzzing has started somewhere in my head, but I can only hear it in my ears, and the teacher’s voice sounds distant when it comes again. “Theo has been rushed to the hospital for allergy to — “ “Which hospital?” I interrupt, already getting down from the bed and ignoring Nathaniel’s concerned expression as he reaches for me. “T-text me the name of the hospital and address please. I—“ I am cut off instantly when Nathaniel grabs the phone from my hands and take it to his ears, his gaze still on me. “When did the accident happen?” He asks, his voice calm though I can hear and feel the worry underneath it. There’s silence from the other end before he clenches his jaw, then nods. “Send me the address rightaway. Thank you.” Then, he cuts the call. “Elara — “ I don’t realize tears are already rolling down my cheeks freely until I taste the saltiness of it in my mout

The tension that follows Adrian’s question is worse than before he asked. And no one dares to move. Not even Karen. I watch in shock as Vivienne blinks, like she hadn’t expected that question to come from Adrian despite the fear on her face. Then she lets out a small, disbelieving laugh, shaking her head slowly. “What?” Another nervous laugh. “Are you seriously right now, Adrian?” She asks, her tone controlled but laced with offense. “You’re actually asking me that?” Adrian doesn’t respond immediately. Instead, his gaze stays fixed on hers, his brows drawn together into a frown before he scowls. “I asked you a question, Vivienne.” “And I heard you,” she snaps, her composure slipping just slightly. “But the fact that you’re even implying something like this. Why would you think I’d give peanuts to Theo?” “I’m not — “ Adrian has barely even finished forming his sentence when Karen cuts him off immediately, her voice cold. “This wouldn’t have happened if she had done her job

Theo’s teacher just left the hospital room. The silence that follows her departure is suffocating this time, and I stand where I am, all I can do is connect the nuts trigger and what Theo asked the teacher to Vivienne. Why would Theo ask his teacher something like that? Does he think I don’t love him? Or did Vivienne do something to make him think she didn’t love him, since he refers to her as his mother? The latter question makes my chest tighten, but I shove the feeling away and wipe the tears already rolling down my cheek. “Vivienne has a bigger motive,” I blurt out. It’s only when Nathaniel replies from behind me that I realize I said it out loud. “Not just the records,” he says. “She’s planning something very big. And just like you heard, Theo is going to be used as leverage. She’s already putting him in the middle of all these.” “She’s such a horrible person,” I say and turn immediately, meeting his gaze. “What kind of person does that?” I ask, my voice breaking despit
