Chapter Eleven: Learning More

Asher was currently staring at his phone telepathically willing an email to come in, he was currently sitting at his work desk in his room. His forearms rested on either side of the phone with his index finger tapping some random beat. His phone lit up and he excitedly checked it. It was a notification from his friend group's group chat. Jason: Someone shout YOLOOOO Andy: What the heck, JASON?! Isaac: Are you drunk Jason? Asher: Is everything alright? Jason: Asher Sashaaa, I've missed youuuu. Chapter Twelve: The dream

Asher examined the photo, it showed a creature that looked like a mix of different humans with deformed bodies to form one huge deformed creature, he held back the urge to vomit and dropped the camera beside him, he rested his head against the door still breathing heavily, he placed his right hand over his heart and tried to calm himself. It was hard, he had almost died and he hadn’t been able to defend himself. He was at least glad that it wasn’t the shadow blob that had attacked him, he remembered what it said, he was in danger. Asher quietly prayed that it was safe and slowly dragged himself up, grabbing the camera and heading to his bedroom, inside he dropped the camera on his desk beside his phone. He walked to the mirror beside the closet lifted his hoodie then his shirt, he turned his back to the mirror and twisted to look at the mirror, his back muscles flexed with every slight movement and most of his back was decorate by a horrid bruise, it was already turning pu

Chapter Thirteen: Artistic Escape

Callie was sitting in the attic floor with a small canvas in-between her legs, she had a water color palette and a small bowl of water beside it. She held up a small brush visualizing the painting in her head, she wanted to test her “portal paintings” as she decided to name it. “Hmmm” she moaned swaying left to right as she contemplated heavily of what to paint. “Ugh!” She exclaimed as she fell backwards intentionally. She looked up at the ceiling. “I don’t know what to paint l, well actually I have to many ideas and I don’t know which to pick. She felt like throwing a tantrum but decided against it, she sat upright and slouched. “Okay.” She said as she squeezed her eyelids and clenched her fists willing her artistic side to come alive. She envisioned the park close to her house and started painting it. She finished it an hour later, she tried to make it as realistic as possible. She admired her finished work with a small smile, it was a pretty good piec

Chapter Fourteen: Shared fates

Callie opened her eyes and she was inside the attic, she looked around and realized it wasn’t hers but she also recognized it. She had been there before. It looked like the same attic where she saw the boy with the green eyes, she spun around and saw a mirror with bronze framing, it had carvings all over it. She walked over curious, her fingers traced all over the carvings committing everything to memory. It was very fine work and she smiled her eyes appreciating it. She took a step back and decided to explore the rest of the attic. There wasn’t much to explore so she just rummaged through the boxes that were piled up in the corners. She was going through a box with colored pencils, markers and paper when she heard the door open, she paused with her back to the door. She heard footsteps and slowly turned to see green eyes staring at her. Asher looked at the curly haired girl that was crouching and rummaging through a box in his attic, she paused when she

Chapter Fifteen: Primordial

Callie woke with a start shooting up into a shooting position, she was breathing fast and her whole body ached. She looked around realizing that she was back in her bedroom. She tried moving her arm to grab her phone but buckled up from the pain. Her body was burning up. Must be the side effects from dimensional travel, she thought. She pushed herself towards the drawer where she kept the jar holding the crystal petals. Luckily for her it was right beside her bed. The jar floated out immediately she pulled it open and just like before it opened on its own. A single petal—not half unlike before floated out and landed on her hand where it was absorbed. The jar closed and floated back into the drawer and she pushed it close. She sighed out of the immediate relief she felt when the petal touched her. The pain was fading away and she could move her hands well now. “Ouch.” She said immediately the pain had completely disappeared. “All this just because I unintentionally jumped to anot

Chapter Sixteen: His will

Asher sat staring at the empty space where Calliana had previously occupied, he wondered how her powers work but he couldn’t ask because he was sure that she didn’t know either. He slowly stood up still gripping the mug and left the attic, he’d think about the pretty girl later. Asher released a yawn as he walked to his room, he set the mug aside and picked up his phone that was on his desk, he had received another email from them. Chapter Seventeen: Fantasy and reality

Callie was getting ready for bed when she heard her phone ring. “Hello?” She picked it up without checking the caller id. “Hey Ana, how are you doing?” Her dad said through the phone, she winced at his voice and said nothing. “Please don’t hang up.” Her dad pleaded. “I just want to talk for a little bit.” Callie contemplated for a little while before agreeing, “Okay.” Her dad breathed out a sight of relief. “How have you been doing? Your mum and I are currently in Tokyo, our clients are a bit of travel fanatics. I heard a fairytale from another tourist and I remembered you.” Her dad said rushing out the words. “Hmmm, okay?” Callie responded. “Do you want to hear about it? It’s about a man named Aer, he supposedly existed in ancient time, in another world.” Her dad said excitedly. “Aer? Could you spell it?” Callie said her heart racing faster. “Yeah, of course honey. It’s spelled A, E, R. I thought it was A, I, R.” Her dad said laughing. His voice suddenly turned ser

Chapter Eighteen: The connection with Aer

Asher was working on an assignment when he saw the time, it was currently 1am, he rubbed his eyes and stretched his back out, the exhaustion hit him almost immediately. He crossed his arms with a frown on his face thinking. He wondered how exactly his supposed powers worked, he knew that Calliana's powers allowed her to jump between dimensions which was basically teleportation, and from what she explained it was through art. "Hmmm, I guess time will tell." He said whilst examining his palm. He closed his eyes leaning against the chair and dozed off. Sunlight poured in through his windows rousing him from his sleep. "Mmm." He groaned trying to get comfortable in his chair. His eyes fluttered open after his third attempt, the chair was just too uncomfortable for him to go back to sleep, he let out a sign and ran a hand through his hair then sat up right. He was going to head to the attic and examine the mirror more, he was sure something would come up. Meanwhile Callie was already

Chapter Nineteen: The connection with Aer II

Asher stared back at Callie unsure of what to say, he took in a deep breath, “Well, I’m sure we’ll find out sooner or later Calliana.” He said after a short while. “Just call me Callie, Calliana feels too upright and formal and we’re partners right?” Callie asked looking at Asher, he nodded in response and Callie shot him a smile that made his breath hitch in his throat. He looked away and pressed his lips together. “So how long can you stay here?” He asked her. “Uhhh, I’m not really sure. I guess I can probably go back through the mirror when I’m ready.” Callie responded. Asher nodded “okay, so….hungry? I’ll order pizza.” Callie perked up at that grinning widely at the thought of food, she nodded joyfully looking at him with puppy eyes. Asher laughed and called the pizza place to place an order. “Hey, I think we should go check out the park that’s nearby, I was almost killed there.” Asher said nonchalantly. “We should be back before the pizza arrives.” “You almost died?” Callie

Chapter Twenty: The connection with Aer III

Callie faced Asher mouth agape, “So we’re the will of Aer?” She grabbed onto his arms and tried shaking but was the one shaking instead, the strength difference between them was a lot. “You said he promised to eradicate the invaders, he wants us to kill those things?!” She continued her face filled with panic. She put the back of her hand to her forehead and fell dramatically knowing fully well Asher would catch her. Asher caught her and shook his head at her antics, he stabilized her and said; “I believe we already figured that out Callie. This was just confirmation.” He patted her shoulder comfortingly. “That’s true, but fighting against full on supernatural beings that won against a primordial being is madness.” Callie said crossing her arms, she couldn’t phantom how they were supposed to defeat them. “Well, if it makes you feel any better, the only reason they won was because he went
