Adelaide's POVThe whole thing was playing out beautifully. Her mouth slipped open, then shut again. She couldn't give an explanation. Not a single one."Mrs. Morralis, you're keeping us all waiting. We need answers." Mathew slammed his hand on the table softly. It was evident he couldn't wait any longer. His shoulders tensed up, eyes sending daggers towards her. And she was just about to disappear from the chair. "You see, Mathew…" She began. "I think I forgot the paperwork at home." Her voice was barely holding up.Mathew exhaled shortly. "Alright." He paused. "It will be better if we end this meeting here for now."In my mind, my own Christmas was happening. Finally, she was tasting her own sour tea. A small smirk played across my lips. I was the actor here. She dared to slap me and think she could get away with it. "The paperwork is in my office, and I will only be able to get them for our next meeting," she said. Her workplace was out of state. Not even close. I really enjoyed

Adelaide's POVI stared deeply at him. There was nothing I wanted to tell him. I couldn't reveal the fact that I was the one with the property deed. His eyes were glued on mine. He walked slowly toward me, sitting right on the table in front of me. He seemed to calm down after saying the whole stupid things he had spat. And giving foolish deadlines. "Wait," he paused. "Who do you think your grandma will her property to?" He asked, hands crossed above his chest."She wouldn't will the property to your name, right?" I said. "And why do you care?"He'd already said the property went to whoever Nana willed it to. So why was he still asking? "You don't only work to serve your people, you know?" He said. "As long as you want something, you find your way to get it for yourself.""And you think this is the way to get the property deeds?" I scoffed. "Unfortunately, you really don't know what you're in for," I said, my voice low. "Now, if you would excuse me, I have other things to do." I st

"Have mercy, please… have mercy," I cried, my voice breaking. But he only dragged my hair back and kept thrusting into me again and again. Pain shot through my body with every movement."Please, master… it hurts so much. Please have mercy, master." I sobbed, tears streaming down my face.He didn't stop. He kept plunging deeper and deeper with every thrust. The look in his eyes told me everything. I was nothing more than a toy beneath him.Silence slowly filled the room except for the sound of my ragged breathing and the movement of his body."See that, gentlemen?" he said coldly to the men in the room. "If you treat them like slaves, they do nothing but beg and obey. But if you give them a little freedom, they become a thorn in your skin. And then you must teach them a lesson."The men around us murmured in agreement, their voices blending into a low noise that made my stomach twist with fear."You're right, Lord Daniel," someone said. "She only needs to be treated like a slave. She d

When Master was done, I pretended to sleep. My body stayed still on the bed, but my mind refused to rest. Fear and pain swirled inside my chest.I kept thinking about what the maid had said earlier. If I disobeyed him, the punishment would be worse than anything I had ever known. My breathing grew uneven. Pain surged through my body. My chest tightened. My hands trembled.I had to run.I had to risk everything.Slowly, I slipped out of bed. My feet touched the cold floor, sending a chill through my body. I crept quietly out of my room. The mansion was silent. My heart pounded loudly in my ears as I moved carefully through the dark hallway. I couldn't risk getting caught. Every shadow looked like a figure. Every creak of the floor made me freeze in place.Soon, I reached the maid quarters.I knocked softly on the door the girl had told me about. It creaked open, and the maid quickly pulled me inside."What's wrong? Why did you drag me roughly?" I whispered, my voice urgent. Her brows f

"I'm asking you? No. I'm not even asking you," he replied coldly. "I'm commanding you." My chest tightened at his words, and I swallowed nervously. "No, Master… that place isn't for me," I said, my voice trembling slightly. "Of course it isn't for you." He sighed deeply. "I should have just paid an actress." He muttered the last words under his breath. "I'm not going to repeat myself. Get dressed. Now." "Yes, Master," I replied softly as he walked out of the room. My shoulders slumped the moment the door closed behind him. "Master wants me to act as his wife." I whispered the words to myself in disbelief. My heart pounded anxiously in my chest. "This is the craziest thing that has ever happened," I murmured, still trying to process it. A knock sounded softly on the door before it opened. Two maids walked into my room carrying a skimpy short gown. My eyes widened immediately when I saw it laid out on the sofa. "This is too short," I said quickly, shaking my head as my
