Amelia. The moment Stephanie walked into the office, I vanished. The scene she had found us in wasn't the comfortable type and knowing Stephanie, she would never let this slide.I busied myself with arranging Lucien's office and returning every file he had overlooked back to their main office. The last one left was to be returned to Dominic's office. So he worked here too.I used the direction on the iPad to locate his office. Down the left hallway, last office at the end. I walked briskly to the office, following the directions until someone called out to me.''Amelia.''I had never heard that voice before. I turned my head slowly to find a lady standing behind me, a smile plastered on her face. A genuine one.''Uhh...May I help you?'' I asked, confused. She shook her head in the negative, ''I'm just impressed.''I turned to find if someone else was beside me, ''By me?'' I pointed to myself.''Let's take a walk.'' She gestured the way forward and I followed.''You know,'' she started

Lucien. The night stretched on longer than it should. A part of me wanted to breakdown seeing her like this but the other part stayed strong. For her. She slept so beautifully. Her lashes fluttering with every sound, the rhythmic heaving of her chest. She was asleep but I could not bring myself to close my eyes. She looked so pale, so hurt.I drew my stool closer to the hospital bed she lay on, the sound screeching in the quiet night. The doctor had said to use a warm towel on her bruises so she would not feel sore when she was up.And so I did just that. I placed the towel into the bowl of hot water that was provided and squeezed it dry before lifting the dress she wore. The one the hospital provided.I gulped when I saw her skin once again. The way she was manhandled until she had no voice to cry for help again. Purple bruises graced her thighs, long nails trailing and leaving scars that would take a long time to fade. I took my time, cleaning every wound quietly while she flin

Amelia. And now, all I could think of was the debt. I had not repaid a penny out of it and I had spent two months in this mansion. I had little time left. To make it worse, I was not working. Eighty million dollars and I was here rotting in bed. A soft knock on the door made me swivel my head in the direction and after a few seconds the door was pushed open. Esther walked in, holding a tray of what looked like food. I could see the smoke oozing from it and a smile graced my lips. I was really hungry. ''How are you feeling today Madam?'' Esther asked in the most friendlist tone ever, a warm smile gracing her lips. I felt the sting of tears threathening to blur my vision. I was not used to this, not from Mateo or his wife but Iris alone. And now, I was being treated like I mattered. I could only nod in response to her question while she placed the food on a small table before me. This was the first time we were alone since the incident that night. Lucien would not leave my side

Amelia. The next time I woke up, the entire room was dark. I was laying on something soft, the familiar scent of Lucien's cologne hitting me, someone's hands resting softly resting on my abdomen.Lucien.I looked around to make sure I was not hallucinating. I was safe and sound, perfectly placed in bed and Lucien was beside me. I moved closer to make sure he was the one and I could see his tattooed neck through the faint gleam of light and I sighed in relief. That was enough for now. My head throbbed so hard, the feeling of fear still gnawing somewhere deep inside me. I needed something, I needed to do something, feel something else.I was tired of being nothing but a burden. Being this weak and always needing help. I was stronger than this. I faced my parent's death, faced maltreatment my whole life, faced working multiple jobs just to eat.Being kidnapped was nothing. Being trapped in a room was nothing. I needed to get this fear out of me. Slowly, I peeled the sheets off my body, q

Amelia. What was this I was feeling? The incessant pounding of my head. I winced in pain as I tried to sit upright but fell back on the bed. I groaned in pain, gripping my hair, hoping it might ease the throb but it did not. ''Lie back down.'' I heard Lucien before I even caught a glimpse of his shadow. He strode towards me with what looked like a bottle of something in his hands, dressed perfectly for work. Tailored suit, crisp white shirt, tie perfectly in place, sleeves rolled, revealing veiny arms. I swallowed a lump as he took a seat beside me, the bed dipping faintly. ''Drink this up, you'll feel better.'' He helped my head up a little, placing the bottle on my lips until I gulped down every content. ''You'll be as good as new in no time.'' Why was he suddenly speaking to me nicely? Not like he ever spoke rudely, but.... this felt different. It sounded as though we were normal couples. He walked away, his back facing me as he fixed his outfit in the floor to ceiling mir
