It was a huge and quiet house, with silence stretching in everything corner, the kind of silence that made breathing almost feel like a crime. I had just stepped out of the penthouse, my phone in hand, ready to order a ride when a car swerved to where I was, and a vaguely familiar face came into view.I had seen him before. Maybe he noticed my hesitation because he explained before he came forward, opened the door, and motioned for me to get in.At the thought, surprise flickered in my eyes. I mean, Soren had made it clear that I was not supposed to expect anything from him, right?The sudden consideration was a surprise. Well, the gesture was much appreciated, especially since my destination was tucked in the middle of the city.
