Chapter 23 Slowly, Michael brought down the phone from his ear, and cut the line. He looked away from Suzanne, and breathed in. Suzanne continued staring at Michael, obviously wondering what he was doing there. "Michael! Don't leave yet! Please!" A whimpering voice stole it's way out from the half closed door, and Suzanne was quick to recognize the voice. It was the voice of the woman who had ran to hug her. Micharl glanced back slightly, a sorrowful look on his face. Suzanne moved closer now, standing right in front of him. She watched his face, and for the first time, she saw sadness in his eyes. It was not just sadness, he looked tired as well. "She must be your mother," Suzanne mumbled softly, remembering the woman's face from days ago. It was no wonder she looked familiar to her. "Yeah," Michael replied and breathed out again. He closed the door fully behind him, and pushed his hands into his pockets. Suzanne smiled with a thoughtful look in her eyes. "No won
