As soon as he reached home, he frowned at the strange stares people gave to him."What is wrong with you all? No respect for your ruler, or do I have to make a scapegoat of one person for the rest of you to learn!""I'm sorry, My King." Completely forgetting their surprise, they bowed to their tyrant king. The one they hated and wished the Moon Goddess had not bestowed so much power upon. Many even wished him dead and from the atrocious acts he had done, it was understandable why they would wish their king so."The next time, there won't be a warning." He was not riding his chariot anymore. He had alighted when he got to the path that led to the forest where he had met Xylia. He was curious to see if he could find any trace of demons lurking. There had been none. He had not bothered to enter the chariot; He had used his legs instead. He received the same treatment when he reached the front of his palace. The men in front stared open-mouthed at him."What is wrong with the lot of you?

She groaned in pain as her eyes fluttered open. Her lids were so heavy that she wanted to close them back. But upon hearing a soft, gentle call of her name, she had to force them open. There was Kayden? Kyle? She was going to have difficulty telling these guys apart. They were too identical, with little to no difference in their features."Xylia."He called again. He had sat watching her, waiting for her to be fully awake. One of the maids had come in to clean her wound. She had developed a cut on her forehead. That blow from Kyle had landed on her stomach. It was a hit that had some elements of supernatural powers in it."Hm." Xylia lolled her head from side to side."How are you feeling now?" Kayden's eyes travelled over her weak, lying frame."Weak. My head hurts." She was feeling throbbing around her temples. It was giving her too much trouble, even adding to the difficulty in keeping her lips open."You'll be fine. Why did you even step in the way of the fight?" Kayden could not

"And you know her?" Kayden's expression spoke of great contempt for his brother. He hated him and wished Kyle was not so powerful. But that didn't matter. He was here now and he was going to learn about this kingdom. He was going to learn to be more powerful, fight his evil brother and be the king everyone would be proud of. The king they would respect. For the sake of his parents, he would take over leadership from Kyle and be the king who did the opposite of what his brother did."Yes. She's my mate!" The lycan laid emphasis on 'mate'."Congratulations." Kayden spat. He did not even want the mate bond.He would treat Xylia nicely because she was his mate, even though he could not accept the mate bond. "But you're the worst mate ever!" he added. That riled Kyle more. "What did you say again?" He stepped forward maliciously.Kayden was only too glad to accept the unspoken challenge as he stepped forward until he was nose-to-nose with his most hated brother. "You're the worst mate ever

The lycan king stared dead at his brother for a long while before walking out of the room. He was done arguing, at least for now.But he had to find a way to get his brother out of the kingdom and back to Istra. He was safer there. Something was about to befall them all and he would not want it to be on his account that his only brother got caught in it.Kayden was strong, no doubt; He was smart too. But this was beyond Kayden, and also beyond himself as king. However, he was ready to fight with all his might. That demon that had gone to attack Xylia was intentional. And he was only relieved that Istra had been there when he had.He trusted the man; He had helped a lot. But this time, he had messed up. Whether he was aware or not, the agreement was for him to make sure that Kayden never returned to the Lycan kingdom.Until he was able to calm the impending storm.King Kyle angrily marched into his chamber, grabbed a bottle of whiskey in his cabinet and drank from the bottle.Kayden wa

"I'm not sure I'm following." Xylia's gaze of her second mate was wary.Kayden stepped closer, his towel wrapped firmly around his waist. His body dripped with water, it all the more made him look like some god of the sea fresh out of his aquatic terrain. She swallowed, feeling affected by his nearness in that state or maybe it was the mate bond."You've just proved that you're with me on this one. You have helped me ange him." He passed her a cocky smile. He watched her closely. Admiringly even, although he refused to let it show. He might not have a clue how mate bonds generally worked but he knew that whatever he was feeling at the moment was the bond. And it was strong. The princess was affected too. He quickly grabbed the clothes and hurried into the bathroom to put them on. He was not here for matings and bondings. He wanted revenge. Allowing anything to happen between him and the princess was just losing focus. Moreover, he should not even be thinking of doing anything with Xy

By now, those in the castle already knew the lycan king's twin brother was back.No one knew the story behind his sudden absence from the kingdom and all who desired to still have their tongues on their mouth or their heads on their shoulders would not dare question the one person who knew - the lycan king."Where's Xylia?!" The lycan king was hungry and angry. He was supposed to have had his dinner by now. She knew never to delay.Gelia trembled helplessly before the lycan king. "I-I don't know, My King.""And why are you stuttering like a sick animal freezing to death?" He boomed. She jumped and tears began to fall. She saw the lycan king's face upturn in a sneer, she quickly wiped her eyes. She was smart enough to know he hated those tears."N-nothing." She swallowed. "I'm sorry," She managed to say without any stutter."Where's Xylia? I have seen you two on many occasions and so I know you're both close. Now where is she?"He was losing his patience and if this servant did not pro

"But...""You will leave my presence, both of you except you want me to punish you." Prince Kayden cut a terrified Gelia off."Please Kayden. Allow me to go with them. This is the only way they will live past this night. You can come with me if you want but I can't leave them to this fate. You know your brother and how he can get." Xylia pleaded with the Lycan prince."We're not yet done with our strolling." Kayden was intentionally doing this.Nothing would rile up his twin brother more."But you said we can stop if I got tired. We've been strolling for a long while now." Xylia reasoned."And you never complained until they came with this news." The prince argued.Xylia would have loved nothing more than to remain with Kayden but the lycan king was a devil. One could not stop him if he started his evilness. If anything should happen to Gelia and Cecilia, she would not forgive herself."I know, but please, I beg you. Please." She pleaded further.Kayden observed the woman before him.

"Don't push it, Kayden. You'll never win this against me. You don't belong here." The lycan king had blazed through the air to go head-to-head with his twin.Xylia stood in despair and confusion, not knowing how to go about this. Prince Kayden was not making this easy for her."Kayden, for the sake of peace, please." She begged, on the verge of tears. But the latter was not listening; He was more interested in his vendetta against his twin. It was what he had come here for, wasn't it?"I belong here, Kyle, and that is an undeniable fact. It is you who do not belong here. You don't deserve to belong anywhere in this entire realm. Your kind should be burnt and thrown in an evil forest and your soul needs to be tormented forever." Kayden retorted in a low, menacing growl. The lycan king merely let out a sinister laugh. "You wish, little brother."The power oozing off of him in a burning aura died down a bit. He would not hurt his twin brother again. He had promised himself not to be temp

“You almost told him.” For some reason, Xylia was antsy. She paved the lycan prince’s room.“And that’s a bother to you because…?” Kayden quirked a brow.He was quite amused at the way she was pacing the room, looking apprehensive and worried. He really enjoyed spending time with her, and even now, he wanted her with him. This might not be going according to plan but at least she understood his need to reject the bond and focus on what he came here for. He was still going to remain friends with her, that much he had told her.She paused. “It’s not really a bother but knowing who the lycan king is, he might have figured it out by now.”“Relax. Whether he does or not is not my problem. So long as he doesn’t see you as a maid anymore, I have no issues.”“So that’s just the problem? Me being his maid?” She fixed her hands on her hips, staring expectantly at him.“No. I’m here for vengeance, Xylia. And I will get it and the throne too.” He told her with a straight face.“But why? You know I

The lycan king was so filled with rage at that moment. He glared at his twin brother."Don't dare me, Kayden. I don't think you want to." To Xylia, he ordered. "Follow me now!"Xylia, who was too scared to actually argue as she was already propelled by fear, stepped a foot forward to do as the lycan king had instructed.Kayden had other plans. He pulled Xylia closer to him. "She's not going anywhere, Kyle. And you're disturbing us both."The lycan king, who had expected his orders to be followed, turned to see Xylia being held back by his twin brother. "Let go of her, Kayden.""No." There was no growling from Kayden. If anything, his tone was calm but still held the same terrifying effect.Well, it was terrifying for others but it just angered the lycan king more. "Kayden, she's not yours to claim. She's my mate. Do you want to come in between fate?" He was reining in his anger.Kayden's first response was a laugh. A taunting one. His second response followed thus. "Fate? So you do kn
