That is the honest shape of where the story is. Just something true.Over the past several chapters I have been writing shorter and shorter chapters about quieter and quieter things. That has been honest in one sense. The eighth year is quieter than the earlier years. The work is sustaining rather than building.But I have also been doing something that I want to name directly.I have been extending the story because the story could be extended. Finding the next small development. The next observation. The next honest reflection. Each one genuinely part of the world we have built together.But I think it is time to write toward a real ending rather than continuing to find reasons to write one more chapter.The story has integrity.
