Nilah's Pov Knock. Knock. The sound was soft, tentative and the scent was familiar. Stephanie. I locked myself inside the room since I came in, let's say, it's been around 6 hours since. A few hours of sleep and food really cleared out my brain, I felt a lot better than I felt previously. But why the hell was Stephanie here? I slid the phone under my pillow and sat up, smoothing my hair. "Come in," I said, my voice intentionally weak. The door creaked open, and Stephanie slipped inside. She had changed into a modest, cream-colored dress, looking every bit the picture of a worried friend. She carried a small glass of water, which she set on my nightstand with a sympathetic sigh. "Nilah, you look a little better," she murmured, sitting on the edge of my bed. I didn't move away, watching her with a blank expression. "I’ve been so worried.
