FREYAMy guts squeezed hard with each second I was locked in that dark room. The air became colder with each second that passed. I didn’t know how long I had been stranded in there, but every minute was heavy like a weight strapped around my neck. The walls pressed in closer the longer I stood still. The lights were dim, most of them barely working, and shadows fell in angles across the floor. I tried to move, to sit, to pace, but it felt like the entire room turned to cobwebs. Something floated across my cheek and I jerked back violently, slapping the air.I stumbled backward into the wall, my palm hitting the cold surface, and the soft brush of cobwebs covered my skin like needles. My heartbeat turned manic. I blinked wildly, trying to force myself to breathe, but it was no use. The space was too small. Too quiet.
