Chapter 31

Because this time, I will defy my father, I will defy the laws, and I will kill you myself. The threat leaves Morgana cold to the bone. She drops to her knees immediately. “I am not, my lady,” Morgana denies, her heart hammering so hard she fears Victoria can hear it. “I swear it.” “Get out of my sight,” Victoria snarls. She jumps to her feet and runs out. ~~~ Later that night… Morgana leaves the manor, a basket of dried lavender clutched tightly in her hands, the perfect excuse for wandering toward the edge of the pack's territory should she be caught by a guard. Her feet move quickly down the overgrown path long forgotten by most, its tangled weeds brushing against her skirts as it leads to a crumbling stone hut hidden among the trees where the pack’s old, half-blind healer lives in forced isolation. The weathered wooden door groans as she pushes it open. The interior is pitch-black, suffocatingly thick with the scent of burning sage and crushed roots, and old earth. But

Chapter 32

That evening… Beta Silas stands in the private chambers of the castle, his head bowed with practiced humility. Across from him sits Luna Queen Evangeline, her expression tight with worry. The disaster at the wedding hall still hangs over her, and beta Silas plays his cards perfectly, keeping his voice smooth and laced with false reverence. “The King is heavily burdened, Your Majesty,” Silas murmurs, shifting closer. “This nameless servant girl has somehow clouded his noble judgment, distracting him at the most critical moment of his reign. If we do not intervene to protect his focus before the wedding, the court will begin to whisper.” Luna Evangeline sighs, her hands gripping the edge of her velvet chair. She desperately wants to protect the honor of the crown and her husband’s oldest friend. Especially after the rumors she heard. And Caspian’s mate, Mira, has confirmed it. She can't let that servant ruin what her husband's family built for generations. “What do you propose, Si

Chapter 33

Despite the sheer terror Morgana feels toward Alpha Kieran, after what happened when he dragged her to his chamber, she has no choice. She has to seek an audience. She has to beg for the life of their child. She slips past the lower guards, and using the familiar servant entrances, she navigates into the castle. The castle is quiet, the heavy stone walls keeping out the cold night air. After weaving through the manor's winding corridors, Morgana finally spots Alpha Kieran's private study at the end of the grand hallway. Relief and dread collide inside her at the thought of what he will do to her once she's in front of him. However, she quickens her pace, her knees trembling beneath her weight, her heart pounding so violently she can hear it in her ears. She is only a few meters away when the heavy double doors to the private study are pushed open, and Alpha Kieran steps out. Morgana's heart stops. Her knees nearly give out beneath her, forcing her to stagger backward before ca

Chapter 34

Morgana runs, her throat burning where Kieran's large hand strangled her, and her lips still tingle where his lips had brushed. Was he going to kiss her? She ponders, her heart racing as she runs. She has just slipped into the servant quarters of the Silas estate when a maid calls her name.“Morgana, the lady had been looking for you.”Morgana's heart skips a frantic beat. Oh Goddess, how did she forget the actual reason she went to find Alpha Kieran? She nods and follows the maid. However, when they arrive, fate grants Morgana a brief reprieve as all they could hear from Victoria's chamber are moans and grunts. She looks at the maid's face.“Should I wait?”No. But go to the kitchen and take your dose of health tonic.”Morgana nods, like she doesn't know about the claimed health tonic being an abortion tonic. But as she walks toward the kitchen, she pauses as something dawns on her: Leslie's warning earlier.Leslie knows I'm pregnant? The thought stops Morgana in her tracks. She walk

Chapter 35

“Wait,” a voice Morgana knows too well barks, stopping her in her tracks. She slowly turns in the direction of the voice.Lady Victoria steps down from the dais, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor. She walks directly over to Morgana, her face twisted with suspicion.“The Priestess may be satisfied with a blurry aura, but I am not,” Victoria says, her voice dripping with venom as she looks at Morgana. “She still has to take the purity concoction like the rest. We must be absolutely certain no sickness or hidden poison resides in a servant so close to the royal chambers.”At her words, the head maid serving the purity concoction steps forward, carrying a golden chalice filled with the steaming dark liquid.Morgana looks down at the liquid, and her blood runs cold. She looks up at Victoria's face. She's not pure; if she drinks this potion, the herbs will tear her lining apart. It will kill her child.“Drink it, Morgana,” Victoria commands, leaning in close, a cruel, mock

Chapter 36

Inside Lady Victoria’s bedroom… Victoria paces across the room, her silk nightgown dragging behind her. She is restless and furious. Her mind is consumed by jealousy and hatred for the servant who in some strange way still continues to breathe the same air as her. Just then, a soft knock sounds at her balcony door. Victoria reaches for a small, silver dagger from her vanity table and moves toward the glass. She pushes the curtain aside, revealing the face of the guard. He smirks at her, and Victoria finds herself feeling horny at the sight of one of her toys, but she hides it very well. She unlocks the door, stepping back as he steps into the room. “You dare risk your life coming to my chambers at this hour?" Victoria snarls, her voice a lethal hiss. “Give me one reason why I shouldn't call for the executioner.” “I have the weapon you need, my Lady,” the guard mutters arrogantly, reaching out to wrap his arms around Victoria's waist. “I know the truth about Morgana.” Victoria

Chapter 37

Fury explodes inside Kieran, making him exude a dark, oppressive aura as he looks away from Morgana. The pack’s elder begins the ceremony. His words echo off the high ceilings, binding their names, linking their political fates. “Do you, Alpha King Kieran, take Lady Victoria to be your fated queen, to share your throne and lead your pack by your side?” Kieran's chest rises and falls. His eyes once again drift to Morgana, searching for a reaction, anything. But Morgana merely blinks, her expression unreadable. The silence in the hall stretches, growing awkward as everyone holds their breath, waiting for the distracted king to answer the elder. At last, Kieran forces the words out. “I do,” he growls, his voice sounding more like a threat than a vow. Morgana's chest constricted at Kieran's answer, her nails digging into her palm as she struggles to maintain her calm composure. He agreed. He actually agreed. Then why does he keep looking at her as if she is the only one that ma

Chapter 38

The silence in the grand hall after Kieran left is thick and suffocating. Victoria stands frozen at the altar. The golden glow of the newly formed mating bond is still fresh on her skin, but her world has just shattered. The grand, triumphant wedding she had killed just to protect… has turned into a nightmare before the eyes of the entire kingdom. On the very day she becomes Queen, her husband publicly claims a slave as his second mate. Victoria's knees go weak. The strength drains from her legs, and she falls heavily to the hard floor, pale, with eyes wide with profound shock, her white and gold gown pooling around her like a broken wing. “My Lady!” her maids cry out, rushing forward, but Victoria shoves them away fiercely with a trembling hand. She sits on the cold marble, her chest heaving as hot, humiliated tears stream down her face. Every eye in the kingdom is watching her. The intense shame burns through her veins, turning her sorrow into a sharp, psychotic hatre

Chapter 39

The corridor falls silent once the maid leaves. Morgana stands alone before the towering, dark mahogany doors of the Alpha King's private chambers. The golden handles gleam under the light, looking like the jaws of a predator waiting to swallow her whole. She can smell him through the wood. The heavy, intoxicating scent of dark chocolate, cedarwood, and the sharp, dangerous tang of his aroused, furious pheromones. Her wolf stirs deep inside her womb, humming in recognition of its mate, completely unaffected by the terror gripping her mind. Morgana closes her eyes and takes a deep, ragged breath to calm herself. For the baby, she repeats like a silent prayer. For our future. Slowly, she lifts her hand. Her knuckles rap hesitantly against the heavy door once. Without waiting for a response, Morgana pushes the door open and steps inside the room, the scent of rain and earth of the King's chambers swallowing her whole. ~~~ Down in the hidden depths of the castle, Beta Silas slams

“Alpha…!” she whimpers, the word a plea and a surrender. But it dies in her throat as Alpha Kieran's mouth crashes onto hers. There is nothing gentle about this kiss. It is a claiming. A branding. His tongue forces her lips apart, tasting the honey and the wine, taking everything she offers and demanding more. His hand slides up her thigh, pushing the hem of the nightgown higher, his calloused palm rough against the sensitive skin of her inner thigh. He breaks the kiss, but only to bury his face in the crook of her neck. He inhales sharply, the scent of wild honey and moonflower flooding his senses, driving him into a frenzy. He begins to lick and suck at the sensitive skin of her throat, his teeth grazing her pulse point, leaving deep bruises.Remembering Leslie’s frantic words, Morgana fights through her fears. As Kieran pinned her wrists above her head, his grip bruising, she managed to free one hand, reaching up to softly cradle his rough, stubbled jaw.She cups his rough jaw, her
