Chapter 21: Two Weeks Until The Full Moon

Alaric had lived through wars. Assassinations. The slow, painful death of his father. But watching Kieran carry Elara back into the pack house, her face hidden against his brother's chest and her torn dress revealing far too much skin, was somehow worse than all of it.Because his control was hanging by a thread. The scent of her arousal still clung to the air, sweet and maddening, and his wolf was howling inside his mind....a constant, deafening demand to claim, mark, breed. Two weeks, he reminded himself grimly. Two weeks until the full moon. You can last two weeks.Except he wasn't sure that was true anymore. Not when Elara looked up at him with those confused, frightened eyes that were also dilated with desire she didn't understand. Not when her scent was burned into his lungs. Not when every instinct he possessed was screaming that she was theirs and they needed to make absolutely certain she knew it.They crossed the threshold into the pack house.Several wolves were still linge

Chapter 22: Stop looking at me like that

Elara's jaw set. "I said I wouldn't...""And I don't believe you." Alaric's expression didn't change. "So. One of us stays. You can choose who, or we'll choose for you."She stared at him, fury and resignation warring in her expression. Finally, she looked away. "Fine. But not you."The words hit harder than they should have."Why not?" Alaric kept his voice carefully neutral."Because you...." She stopped, shook her head. "Just not you. Okay?"He didn't push. Didn't ask what he'd done to make her single him out.But it stung. She's angry at you for being honest, Caspian observed through the mind link. For telling her the truth instead of coddling her.Good, Alaric shot back. She needs to hear the truth. And now she doesn't want you near her, Kieran added, something almost sympathetic in his mental voice. Way to go, brother.Alaric's jaw tightened.Out loud, he said, "Caspian or Kieran, then. Your choice."Elara looked between the two of them, her expression unreadable."Caspian," she

Chapter 23: Can you at least turn around?

"I'm not going to ask you to....""We'll see." His eyes gleamed. "Now get in bed. You need sleep."Elara wanted to argue. Wanted to tell him she wasn't tired, that she didn't need him watching over her like she was a child. But she was tired. Exhausted, actually. And the bed looked incredibly inviting. She climbed under the covers, hyper-aware of Caspian's gaze following her every movement."Can you at least turn around?" she muttered."No.""Why not?""Because I need to be able to see you." His voice was quiet but firm. "Need to know you're safe. That you're here."Something in his tone made her chest ache."I'm not going anywhere," she said softly."Tonight, maybe." He met her eyes. "But tomorrow? Next week? You'll want to run again. It's in your nature to fight. And it's in ours to make sure you never get far enough to hurt yourself.""That sounds exhausting.""It is." His smile was wry. "But you're worth it."Elara didn't know what to say to that.So she closed her eyes and tried

CHAPTER 24: She's not just Fae and wolf

Elara woke to sunlight streaming through the windows and the smell of coffee. For a blissful moment, she forgot where she was. Forgot about werewolves and mate bonds and three men who claimed she belonged to them. Then she opened her eyes and saw Caspian still sitting in the chair by the window, a cup of coffee in his hand and his silver eyes already fixed on her."Morning, bellissima," he said softly.Reality crashed back.Elara sat up, pulling the covers around herself even though she was fully clothed in the oversized t-shirt. "Did you sleep at all?""Some." He took a sip of his coffee. "Wolves don't need as much sleep as humans.""That doesn't mean you should've stayed up all night watching me.""I wasn't watching you all night." His lips curved. "Just most of it."Elara's cheeks flushed. "That's creepy.""That's protective." He stood, setting his cup down on the side table. "There's breakfast waiting for you. And clothes. Real clothes, not another dress."She looked toward the dre

Chapter 25: I'm just a zoo worker

The words hung in the air like a death sentence."That's why the Fae Court wants her dead," Caspian said, realization dawning. "Not just because she's a hybrid. But because of what she could become.""Yes." Meredith nodded. "The prophecy....the one your father received, it wasn't just about her being Fae. It was about her being the bridge, The one who could end centuries of war between Fae and wolf."Elara's legs gave out, she sank onto the bed, her mind reeling. "I'm just....I'm just a zoo worker. I'm not...I can't be...""You are." Meredith's voice was gentle now. "Whether you're ready or not. Whether you accept it or not. The blood in your veins is First Court, and the wolf in your soul is Alpha-born. You were never meant to be ordinary, child.""But I feel ordinary," Elara whispered."That's the binding spell." Meredith moved to sit beside her on the bed. "Your grandmother was powerful.....more powerful than she let anyone know. She wove a spell so complex, so intricate, that it d

Chapter 26: Fuck! You're so responsive

Elara woke slowly, awareness creeping in by degrees.Warmth. That was the first thing she registered. Not the comfortable warmth of blankets, but the solid, living heat of another body pressed against her back.An arm was draped over her waist, heavy and possessive. Breath stirred her hair in slow, steady rhythms. She froze.Someone was in bed with her.Memory flooded back....she'd been so exhausted after Meredith's visit yesterday, so emotionally wrung out from learning about her First Court bloodline and the ticking clock on the binding spell, that she'd fallen asleep almost immediately after dinner. And apparently, one of them had decided to join her.She turned her head slightly, carefully, and her breath caught.Kieran.He was sprawled on his back beside her, one arm still wrapped around her waist, his face relaxed in sleep. The morning sunlight streaming through the windows painted his features in gold....the sharp line of his jaw, the dark lashes against his cheeks, the sensual

Chapter 27: Shh! Let me make you feel good

His mouth moved to her other breast, giving it the same devastating attention. Sucking, licking and worshipping like it was the most precious thing he'd ever touched.Elara's vision blurred with tears from the intensity of it."Please," she gasped. "Please, I can't...""You can." His voice was muffled against her skin. "You will."His free hand....the one not currently palming her breast....slid down her stomach, fingers splaying across her ribcage, then lower. To the waistband of her sleep shorts.Elara's eyes flew open. "Kieran....""Shh." His fingers slipped beneath the elastic, finding the soft skin of her lower belly. "Just let me touch you, tesoro. Let me make you feel good."His hand moved lower. And lower.Until his fingers brushed against her through her panties.Elara's hips bucked involuntarily."Fuck," Kieran breathed against her breast. "You're soaked."She was. She could feel it...the wetness, the aching emptiness, the desperate need for something she didn't have a name

Chapter 28: You're The Human

Elara needed air. After Kieran left, she'd spent an hour trying to calm her racing heart and ignore the persistent ache between her legs. She'd showered...cold water that did absolutely nothing to cool the heat in her blood, dressed in jeans and a simple sweater, and decided she needed to get out of that room before she went insane. The pack house was massive, and she'd barely explored any of it beyond the path between her room and the dining hall. Surely there had to be somewhere she could go. Somewhere quiet where she could think without three Alpha wolves watching her every move. She slipped out of her room and made her way down the hallway, taking a different route than usual. The pack house was beautiful in the morning light....all polished wood and stone, with tapestries hanging on the walls and sunlight streaming through tall windows. She passed several wolves in the hallways. Most nodded respectfully, some smiled, a few looked curious but not hostile. It was almost... normal.

Chapter 29: Why are you crying?

"I can't....""Can't? Or won't?" Sienna stepped closer, her voice dropping to a hiss. "Because from where I'm standing, it looks like you're holding onto something you don't even want just to spite the people who actually belong here.""That's not true...""Isn't it?" Sienna's smile was vicious. "You're here out of obligation. Out of some deal your grandmother made. But you don't actually want to be their mate. You don't want to be Luna. You're just too much of a coward to admit it."The words cut deeper than they should have.Because there was a kernel of truth in them. She was here because of a deal. She hadn't chosen this. And despite the moments....the kisses, the touches, the way her body responded to them....she was still fighting it.Still wishing she could go back to her normal life."I...." Elara's voice broke. "I need to go."She turned to leave, but Sienna's voice followed her."Run all you want, human. But you can't run from the truth. You're not good enough for them. You

Chapter 30: Say my name again

"Say it again." His hips rolled against hers, grinding into her in a way that made stars explode behind her eyelids. "Say my name again.""Alaric...."He captured her mouth again, swallowing her moan as his hips moved in slow, deliberate rolls. The friction....even through their jeans....was overwhelming.Elara's leg tightened around his waist, trying to pull him closer, trying to get more....His hand moved between them.Cupped her through her jeans.Applied pressure exactly where she needed it.Elara's head fell back against the wall, her eyes squeezing shut as pleasure crashed through her."Look at me," Alaric commanded. She forced her eyes open. His dark eyes were burning, feral, barely human."You want to know if you're enough?" he asked, his voice rough. "You want to know if we want you?"His hand pressed harder and Elara whimpered."This," he continued, grinding against her, "is what you do to me. Every. Single. Day. I walk around hard and aching because your scent is everywher
