The message was specific about that. I gave it to Selene without comment. She read it. Set it down. Picked it up again. It’s her written testimony, Selene said. She wants to go through it with me before it goes to the Council. That was my read too, I said. She wants me to know what she’s saying before they hear it, Selene said. She’s not asking my permission. She’s giving me the courtesy of not being surprised. I said nothing. Selene looked at the message. That’s actually honourable, she said. In a limited way. Yes, I said.
