Victor's Pov I was standing beside the counter of the kitchen, with my hands clasped together, and I was observing Isabella go through the apartment like a storm. There was something about her, a stress which I could have detected by hearing her on the far side of the room. The manner in which she dropped cups and shuffled papers, and kept her eyes closed to everything that would call her to mind the external world. This tension should have been on me. I was watching, reckoning, reasoning with every slight faltering, every insignificant trembling of her hands.
