"Arthur Bennett, don't count your chickens before they hatch."Chloe Bishop's voice was cold and fierce—like a cornered beast ready to drag her enemy down with her. "You better listen to me. For a split second, he was stunned into silence. At the commotion, several bodyguards rushed in from outside.Felix quickly recovered. His ingratiating demeanor vanished, replaced by rage. "I offered you wine, but you'd rather have the whip!"Several pairs of eyes fixed on Chloe Bishop with murderous intent. But she didn't flinch. Her gaze was colder, sharper than all of theirs. Six years had passed without her even realizing it.From today on, it was all over.Chloe Bishop's gaze fell on a box in the center of her bed. She picked it up and shoved it into the back of her closet. With that done, she took a shower and chose a purple evening gown to wear. Then she sat before the mirror and applied light makeup. The woman in the reflection had long, flowing hair like seaweed. Her delicate features, enhanced with a touch of cosmetics, now carried a hint of playful charm. She paused, then pinned her long hair up. She took out a curling iron and styled her bangs. The look suddenly became more vibrant—less seductive, but more youthful, fresh, and polished. The light purple gown was elegant and appropriate. She added simple, tasteful jewelry. This should please the elders, shouldn't it?She considered perfume, but then remembered that Xavier Grayson reportedly despised women. He probably wouldn't like the scent either. So she skipped it.Slipping into her heels, Chloe

Last night, after leaving Bishop Villa, Adrian Grayson hadn't wanted to go home. He kept pointing back at the building, wanting to return—because she was still in there. After Xavier Grayson forcibly brought him home, the little boy had locked himself in his room out of spite. He refused to eat or drink, and hadn't come out all day.So Chloe Bishop could clearly feel—Xavier Grayson's disgust toward her had grown even stronger than the night before. The coldness radiating from him was bone-chilling.Back inside the room, someone tugged at Xavier Grayson's pant leg.He looked down. A tiny hand was clutching the crisp fabric. The small owner of that hand looked up at him in silence, then pointed toward the balcony with his other hand.He wanted Xavier Grayson to take him downstairs to see Chloe Bishop.Xavier Grayson gazed at the boy, who had finally calmed down. He bent his tall frame and crouched in front of him, the coldness in his face slowly fading. "Want to go downstairs?"Adrian Gr

Among these five men, Seth Rollins had the best family background, Xavier Grayson was the wealthiest, and Liam Martin was the youngest and most promising. But all three had their flaws.Like Xavier Grayson, Seth Rollins was known for his ruthless, cold-blooded methods, so both ranked lower in public favor. Liam Martin ranked last because of his physical disability.Tayne Marsh and Justin Taylor had the best reputations—but Justin Taylor was already married. Beside her, Yasmine Jones was fuming. "Maya Bronx is absolutely outrageous. She'll say anything to suck up to Ava Adam."Nadia took a deep breath. "Why get angry? They'll have their moment of humiliation soon enough."Just a few more days. A few more days, and her father would swallow up the Bishop family's shares and become the new CEO of Bishop Group.Once Chloe Bishop was dethroned, with her beauty and talent, Nadia would rise and claim the title of top socialite.Ava Adam only had her family background to flaunt. When that was gone, what would she have left to be so proud of?All those who mocked her—Nadia would pay them back tenfold, a hundredfold.By now, the matriarchs had gathered together, and the young ladies were being called over by their mothers.Every woman here was from a prominent family. They had their pride—even if they fancied someone, they wouldn't throw themselves at him. That would seem desperate and invite ridicule. Nadia was the perfect example of what not to do

When there are too many women around, a few of them are bound to lack decency."Why isn't she leaving yet? How can she still show her face here?""This Chloe Bishop really has some nerve. If it were me, after being humiliated like that, I would've run off crying long ago. How could I possibly face anyone?"But their words slid off Chloe Bishop like water off a duck's back.As she walked past, the socialites shrank away from her as if she were something filthy they might catch. And so, a clear path opened up between Chloe Bishop and Lady Grayson.Chloe Bishop had already composed herself. With quiet elegance, she approached the elderly woman and offered a gentle smile. "Grandma Grayson, I'm Chloe Bishop, eldest daughter of the Bishop family. It's my first time meeting you—I hope I'm not intruding."Lady Grayson gave her a once-over, her expression unreadable. Still, her tone remained fairly warm. "If I recall correctly, Miss Bishop, your name wasn't on the guest list."The crowd gasped.

Xavier Grayson had just ended his phone call. At the sound of the old lady's voice, his expression darkened slightly, but he still made his way over to where the women were gathered. The socialites' gazes followed his every move.Nadia couldn't tear her eyes away from the cold, aristocratic man. From the very first moment she'd laid eyes on him, she had been completely captivated. She discreetly tugged at her mother's sleeve.Mrs. Bennett, fully aware of the stakes, patted her daughter's hand reassuringly. The moment Xavier Grayson stopped, Mrs. Bennett turned to Chloe Bishop with a smile. "Our Chloe has always been so loved by children. If only she and Liam's little one were still—""Mom! What are you saying?"Nadia cut in abruptly, stopping her mother mid-sentence.Mrs. Bennett seemed to realize she'd said something she shouldn't have and quickly clamped her mouth shut. But their goal had been achieved."A child? What child?""Oh my god—Chloe Bishop had a child?"Mrs. Bennett hurried

"This skin of mine is natural too. Even the most expensive beauty products couldn't replicate it."Chloe Bishop's beauty was as renowned as her flawless complexion. No luxury cream could produce such radiance. She continued, "As for family background—the Bishops are an upstanding clan with a prestigious standing in New York City. My age matches yours as well. Marrying me would not diminish your status in the slightest."Xavier Grayson studied the woman before him—the one who could praise her own natural gifts without batting an eye—and concluded that she did, in fact, have every right to be proud. His languid gaze swept over her porcelain skin. "It sounds like Miss Bishop's qualifications are indeed impressive. But if I recall correctly, you've had a fiancé for quite a few years. The young mistress of the Grayson family must be pure. Are you qualified in that regard, Miss Bishop?"He watched her bite her lip, as if humiliated. Yet she still lifted her chin and met his eyes—clear, unfli

After saying those words, Xavier Grayson summoned Nanny and retreated into the study together.Chloe Bishop raised her trembling hand, smoothing her skirt back into place before Nanny knocked and entered. She curled into the sofa, making herself as small as possible. When Xavier Grayson emerged from the study again, he saw her huddled there—like a lost, helpless kitten.Too bad his heart was made of iron. He felt no pity.Seeing him come out, Chloe Bishop wiped the sorrow from her face and forced a smile at him. Some wounds were meant to be licked alone, in the dark.Xavier Grayson tossed an agreement in front of her. "You have ten minutes. When I come out, I don't want to see you here."With that, he headed for the bathroom.Chloe Bishop picked up the prenuptial agreement and read it carefully. The terms were straightforward. During the marriage, Xavier Grayson would take over full management of Bishop Group in place of Charles Bishop—until he recovered. As the young mistress of the G

She pushed open the car door and stepped out, standing several meters away, gazing at him from across the distance.Neither moved forward. It was as if a vast chasm lay between them.Chloe Bishop was dressed to the nines tonight—elegant and regal, yet still carrying a hint of youthful freshness. She was beautiful. Liam Martin had always known that. But now, his eyes held room for no one but Sara Jay."Say what you came to say."Liam Martin stood there, as gentle and refined as ever, looking at her. But the warmth and indulgence in his eyes were gone.Chloe Bishop didn't know where to start. After a long silence, she finally spoke.
