AARON'S POVAt first, when I heard ‘Jack', the first thing that came to my mind was ‘Has he arrived already?’So I turned around, half expecting to see him standing there with his mysterious date, but there was no Jack in sight.It was Deaton. His mask was barely a mask at all, leaving most of his face uncovered, so I recognized him immediately.He wasn't looking at me, though. He was staring at Jay.Deaton didn't say anything at first. He just stared at Jay. I wasn't sure what was going on. His eyes moved over Jay's face, then down to his black clothes before slowly coming back up again.Then his gaze shifted to me. He looked at me for a moment before looking back at Jay.I frowned slightly.Jay had gone strangely quiet beside me, and I felt his fingers tighten around my arm. I glanced down at his hand briefly, then back at Deaton. Maybe Jay was offended that Deaton had mistaken him for someone else. I couldn't blame him.
