Rebecca's POVThe wooden door stood open as nobody wanted to cross the threshold.The room beyond us was illuminated by a single lantern lying on a tiny table, throwing its warm, golden rays onto the stone floor, softly. The light seemed very human after several hours of wandering through dark passages.But we didn't move.Matthew positioned himself in front of me, pulling out half of his sword silently. Tyler stood outside of the entrance, muscles rigid, though not having turned his wolf side yet. Even though he had managed to keep his beast under control, I could feel it pacing inside of him.Only Ezekiel seemed to be able to see past all of that. His attention had already drifted beyond the figure inside the room, quietly studying the shelves lining the walls.Then the voice spoke again.“You have kept me waiting longer than I thought you would.”This was not a threat.In fact...It seemed weary when the voice came out. Not the weariness of age, but of waiting far too long.
