Chapter 91

Kate's P.O.V.All thanks to Dr. Karev's help, I was able to resolve the mystery of my relationship dilemma. The decision was made, and there came the most challenging part of my plan: Osiris.I had to convince my alpha mate for this test.Pulling out my phone, I opened my chat with Osiris.“Can we talk? It's important.”He replied after five minutes.“In a meeting with Alpha Rowan. Give me thirty minutes, My Moon.”Even in the middle of work, he managed to reply to me, his care bringing a smile to my lips. I took a deep breath and sat down on my bed.“Thirty minutes. I can wait that much.”For this impossible task, I began preparing a speech in my mind, gathering cautious statements. It was quite easy to trigger his anger when any bad thing about me was mentioned in a conversation.I was in the middle of crafting an emotional attack when my phone rang and a notification popped on the screen.“Official email to Alpha Osiris Kessler’s mate.”The subject of the email immediately garnered

Kate's P.O.V.The sample collection took longer than I expected. As I was carrying twins, a simple blood collection wasn’t possible. The whole process took an hour, and then I had to stay in the hospital under observation. The aftermath of the test made me second-guess my decision. The council physicians performed an invasive prenatal bloodline verification procedure, collecting fetal samples directly from my womb. The points where the needle was inserted hurt like hell, and even my babies became quiet, as if the procedure scared them too.I would have endured all that easily, but Jace hovering around me seriously tested my patience.“Kate, do you need help?”“Please drink this juice.”“I can call the doctor from my pack.”Blah. Blah. Blah. His continuous yapping really got on my nerves. I asked the nurse.“Please escort everyone out. I want to rest.”Despite my sharp tone, Jace smiled warmly.“I am standing outside. Call me if you need anything.”Yes! I need a silver knife to stab yo

Chapter 93

Kate's P.O.V.The next morning arrived far too quickly, ending the hardest night in Wild Prowlers Pack so far.Unable to sleep, I saw Osiris sitting on the couch with his laptop open all night, his broad shoulders tense beneath the dim lamp while the silence between us grew heavier by the hour.He didn’t come to bed, and when dawn finally painted the room gold, he simply closed the laptop, straightened his suit, and walked out.He didn’t even say goodbye or kiss me like every other day, the click of the bedroom door echoing louder than any growl.I sat on the bed for a long time, hugging my knees despite the ache in my lower abdomen. An invisible wall stood between us now. And I had no idea how to tear it down. The trail of my thoughts was halted by a gentle knock on the door as Lauren entered with breakfast and my morning medicine.“Good morning, Luna.”Taking a deep breath, I forced a smile.“Morning.”She placed the tray before me before taking out a sealed envelope.“This arrived f

Chapter 94

Kate's P.O.V.Given the severity of the situation, I decided to play the matchmaker today. Although I had no right to just jump in and fix my bestie’s marriage, her survival was based on it. I had to use my Luna authority to protect her.Once Bella had a mating mark on her neck, she’d be saved from Jace’s dirty tricks. And it wasn’t that I was forcing her into an unwanted relationship. Bella and Taylor were dating for a while, their affection a well-known truth. It was a beautiful opportunity to bind those loving hearts in sacred matrimony.I shared all the details with Osiris through a long text, and soon enough, he called me back.“I have read everything.”His voice was calm, but I could hear exhaustion beneath it.“This is a serious matter. I'll discuss it with Taylor first.”Before I could ask anything else, he added quietly.“Please wait for me. I'll come home after the meeting.”I replied softly.“Alright. I am waiting.”As the line disconnected, Bella looked at me hopefully.“Do

Chapter 95

Kate’s P.O.V.Osiris stared at me for a long moment, his gaze as expressionless as stone. His voice came out rough.“These traditions built this pack. They kept us safe when enemies tried to erase us.”A bitter laugh escaped me.“Oh, yes. History.”Osiris’s jaw clenched as I continued.“Maybe the traditions once protected this pack. But today, they are hurting the very people they are supposed to protect. Even our pups are under scrutiny because of them.”“I could have handled the situation,” Osiris said sharply, “but you acted rashly and went for the paternity test. You didn’t even wait for me, Kate.”My dumbfounded gaze fell on him. Even though the truth was right in front of him, Osiris was blaming me for this paternity test. At that moment, it occurred to me.I wasn’t talking to my mate. The man standing before me was the Alpha of the Wild Prowlers Pack who ruled alone over his territory.I balled my fists.“What else was remaining? The moon ritual? Public humiliation?”My voice

Chapter 96

Kate’s P.O.V.After panicking for almost fifteen minutes, I composed myself and opened Osiris’s laptop for more information. Firstly, I had to check where that laboratory was.Osiris’s password was obvious, my name in all caps. I clicked on the records file and scrolled the list of urgent matters.Just like me, Osiris had also received a letter from the council about the paternity test. But the details in the file were something I was looking for.“Stanford laboratory, 1032 Timberwolf Ridge Road, Blackwood Pack.”A part of me calmed to read the address, as it was from our neighboring territory, a place Osiris could easily reach in minutes. If that place was under attack, our army could join the neighboring force for better defense.I closed the boring files and then opened the internet for news. Such news of attacks must have been the trend until now.The trends list appears on the screen.“Joint warriors training.”“Alpha Rowan’s statement.”“Yearly budget.”Although a pack was attac

Chapter 97

Kate’s P.O.V. And… Jace’s pity act won the final battle. After the elders’ blatant speech, the council disregarded my opinion and gave the verdict in Jace’s favor. Alpha Rowan ordered. “Bella Hart will return to Mystic Shadows Pack tonight.” The guards obeyed his command and left to arrest Bella swiftly. The room became suffocatingly quiet, a trap snapping shut around me while I watched the man I loved once destroy the only friend I had. I sat frozen, the air in my lungs turning lead as every tick of the wall clock sounded like a gavel slamming down on Bella’s fate. Then my gaze fell on Jace, and the numbness began to burn. His victorious gaze was fixed on me as he drank in my paralysis like fine wine. The hatred didn't hit me like a wave; it coiled deep in my gut like a rusted spring, twisting tighter with every passing second. I wanted to rip that look off his face, to scream the truth until the walls cracked, but I was helpless in my own pack. I had to sit here, breathe

Chapter 98

Osiris’s P.O.V.Kate’s question made it difficult to decide to pick the most shocking thing right now: visible changes in her appearance or the fact she managed to injure a pureblood alpha like Jace.Dark fur covered Kate’s skin, her eyes glowing red as her facial features were tightened, closely resembling a wolf during the shift. There were claws instead of her hands, and apparently, it seemed like she noticed it for the first time as her stupefied gaze was fixed on them. Not to mention Alpha Jace, whose face was pale as if he had seen a ghost!Securing my mate in my arms, I looked around as pack members started to gather around me along with the council members and the pack members. Alpha Rowan stepped forward, his usually calm face etched with worry.“Thank you so much for returning swiftly, Alpha Osiris. This situation got out of our hands pretty quickly.”His gaze flicked to Kate.“We tried to explain the rules to her, but she…”I could see Kate had punched Jace, but the reason

Chapter 99

Osiris’s P.O.V.Dr. Karev’s statement immediately caught my attention.“What’s that?”After telling how Kate stayed for extra shifts and didn’t take off time ever, he finally came to the point.“Kate has a natural talent for healing others. A physiotherapist must have a detailed knowledge of bone structure, but Kate…”He continued after a pause.“She has the special ability of finding the affected bones and ligaments. It’s like she placed her hand on the patient’s body, and the moon goddess told her where the issue is.”My gaze flicked to Kate, who was sleeping peacefully. She had unique skills, and I had experienced it too. At that time, I used the excuse that all physiotherapists must be trained for this. However, Dr. Karev’s point made me reconsider my approach. It seemed like Kate was blessed with some divine powers that helped her heal her patients. We were still discussing Kate’s mysterious wolf when Dr. Raven returned. She shot us a hard glare.“You can chat outside too. My pa

Chapter 100

Kate’s P.O.V.“Miss Bella is safe!”The guard’s words settled over the room like gentle rain after a raging storm. My entire body sagged with relief.“Thank Goddess…”The breath I had been holding escaped my lips as my shoulders finally relaxed. I hadn't even realized how tightly I had been clutching Osiris's shirt until now.Beside me, Osiris smiled, the tension around his eyes easing for the first time that day.“See? Bella is fine.”He gently poked the tip of my nose.“And you, My Moon, worry far too much.”Heat rushed to my cheeks.“I do not.”A chuckle escaped him.“Yes. You do.”I huffed lightly.“I simply care about people.”Osiris’s gray eyes warmed.“You nearly turned the entire house upside down.”Although he was right, I didn’t give in and pouted.“That… wasn't entirely my fault.”His laughter was low and warm, vibrating pleasantly through his chest where I rested against him, loosening the tight knot in my chest. The sunlight streamed through the hospital window, painting
