Chapter 11

Kate’s P.O.V.We... will talk?My heart clenched. At that moment, Osiris’s words felt far more lethal than his silent terrorism. My mind remained stuck at the word ‘talk’ throughout the car ride to the forest so thick that it had swallowed the light.Even in the broad daylight, the trees loomed overhead, their thick canopies turning everything into a dimly lit, shadowed world. The cars stopped at the entrance, and Osiris opened the door for me. I stepped out slowly, my unease rising with every breath. Before I could ask anything, the music began, slow and rhythmic. A group of warriors came out of the forest, dressed in some sort of traditional attire made of dark fabric, leather, and metal accents. A chill crept up my spine as a group of women approached me, carrying layers of fabric.“Hey, what are you…”They ignored my protest and worked efficiently. Within minutes, I was draped in rich red silk and gold jewelry, followed by bracelets, chains, and a veil placed on my head. Tha

Chapter 12

Kate’s P.O.V. Before I could beg for mercy, Osiris finally spoke up, his voice cold and absolute. “Take her to her room.” A maid swiftly stepped forward, lowering her head. “Yes, Alpha.” And just like that, the crowd parted, the maid pointing toward the east. “Please, this way.” What? My heart forgot to beat for a brief second, gawking at my super serious mate. His words and expression didn’t match at all, like a coroner announcing the happy news of a child’s birth. As my body wasn’t in the condition to support me through a round of explanation, I simply bowed and walked away, each step taking me closer to much-needed rest. The house was just like its exterior, raw and majestic. Animal fur was draped across the floor and walls. Massive wolf heads mounted like trophies, staring down from above, their glassy eyes cold and unwelcoming. Silver swords crossed over the stone pillars, polished and shining. Like anyone could use them at any minute. Goddess, did I step into an

Chapter 13

Osiris’s P.O.V. Thirty minutes earlier. The meeting room was louder than it should have been, voices overlapping across the long oak table, each elder trying to make their opinion sound like law. The Kessler crest carved beneath my hand felt colder than usual as I sat at the head, listening without interruption. “The ceremony was left incomplete…. “A Luna who walks away mid-rite...” “That reflects poorly on the authority of Alpha...” Elder Rowan leaned forward, his tone measured but firm. “This is not a trivial matter, Alpha. Traditions exist for a reason. Your mate shouldn’t have abandoned the rites midway.” My fingers tapped once against the armrest. I lifted my gaze. “She didn’t abandon anything.” Elder Jerad frowned. “Then how can you explain it?” “Kate was exhausted.” I spoke simply. “The Mystic Shadows Pack is located in the far east. She was tired after a long journey.” My gaze shifted to Elder Jared. “You are just misunderstanding the situation. It’s not a

Chapter 14

Kate’s P.O.V. My cheeks burned as I ran out of the meeting hall, Osiris’s touch still fresh on my skin. He was calm, unshaken, and completely in control as an Alpha, and as a mate, he was a damn incubus. His one glance could make me feel weak in my knees. Taking deep breaths, I tapped my cheeks, walking forward. “Calm down, Kate. Don’t think about that.” I barely reached the main corridor of the office wing when a super enthusiastic figure materialized out of thin air. “Finally!” Bella rushed toward me, her eyes wide with excitement, practically vibrating where she stood. “Do you have any idea what’s happening outside?” She demanded before I could even greet her. I rolled my eyes. “I just came out of the council trial disguised as a meeting, Bella. Enlighten me.” She swiftly grabbed my arm, lowering her voice but not her excitement. “People are bowing!” “Excuse me, what?” “Bow-ing.” She repeated dramatically. “Wolves! Big, scary, mountain-sized wolves! Dropping wha

Chapter 15

Kate’s P.O.V. By the time we reached the bottom of the hill, my legs were no longer protesting. And that alone felt like a miracle. I cast one last glance back at the newly carved stairs and then moved forward, thinking inwardly. “Alright. Let’s see how this ‘sightseeing’ works.” My eyes instinctively searched for a car. Or at least, something with wheels. However, only stern-faced warriors surrounded us in protective formation. “Bella,” I whispered, leaning toward my buddy. “Where are the cars?” She gave me a small shrug, just as confused as I was. That didn’t help. So, I turned to the only familiar face nearby. “Lauren?” “Yes, Luna.” “Um… how are we getting there?” I asked, gesturing vaguely ahead. “Is there any transport?” Lauren looked genuinely surprised. “Transport?” She repeated. “Why would we need that?” A faint smile touched her lips, polite but genuinely perplexed. “We are wolves, and the forest is our home. We travel through it.” Oh, right. ‘But no

Chapter 16

Kate’s P.O.V. On our way back, Kayla was the prime topic of our discussion. The moment her name left Lauren’s lips, something in the air shifted. “She is the pack’s Gamma’s daughter.” Lauren said softly as we walked back from the market, her tone almost reverent. “Miss Kayla is… perfect.” I glanced sideways at her. “Perfect. How?” Lauren blinked as if the answer was obvious. “She is the best cook in the entire pack. She wins every seasonal competition. Her floral arrangements are offered at temple ceremonies.” The list of Kayla's talents was endless, painting a picture of a perfect housewife straight from the 1950s. But still, I tried my luck and asked. “That’s great, Lauren. What’s her qualification?” Lauren paused mid-step, her eyes narrowing a bit. “That’s her qualification, Luna. She graduated at the top of her class in the women’s academy.” My breath caught, “Women’s academy?” Lauren nodded proudly. “Of course. From where else would one learn proper homemak

Chapter 17

Kate’s P.O.V.I shouldn’t have said anything! The thought circled my mind as I stood in the quiet dining room, staring down at the untouched dinner on the table. Osiris hadn’t eaten because of me. Just because I couldn’t keep my mouth shut for some minutes. A sigh slipped past my lips before I could stop it. For a second, I considered slipping away, leaving everything for the maids. But my feet didn’t move.I had to take responsibility for the mess I made. So, I reached forward and adjusted the pots and plates in the tray, making sure that the food was still warm. “Great, Kate.” I muttered under my breath. “You have already caused enough chaos today. Why not add more?”Despite the fear curling in my chest, I picked up the tray and went to our room, each step louder than it should be. Our room!Even after mating and getting pregnant with Osiris's child, the words still felt strange and unfamiliar. My heart raced as I paused for a second outside the door, my grip tightening around

Chapter 18

Kate’s P.O.V.His lips moved over mine gently, savoring every movement as his hand slid to the back of my head, supporting me. A belated gasp parted my lips, inviting his tongue as it brushed over my lower lips before sliding in my mouth. The sweetness of tea and his manly scent mingled, his warm breath overwhelming me as I closed my eyes, relishing the heat as he deepened the kiss. I responded to him with equal passion, and our tongues danced in harmony, his free hand sliding under my shirt, making me moan.“There's a lot more we need to talk about.” I broke the kiss and gave him a faint smile, my breathing uneven.“Hmm?” Osiris bent down and started leaving small kisses down my jaw. “I hardly know anything about you.” I almost gasped as he bit down on my earlobe.“I just told you about my family,” he whispered in my ear before kissing his way down my throat.“Yes, but that's not you. I mean…” A moan escaped me as he gently nibbled on the mark, his sweet torture on my neck awakeni

Chapter 19

Kate’s P.O.V. The first thing I noticed after waking up was the warmth. Not from the blanket tucked around me. It was him. Osiris! His arm was wrapped around me, firm and protective, his chest rising steadily beneath my cheek. For a moment, I didn’t move and just… stayed, breathing in his deep masculine scent. That dangerous Alpha, feared by the entire world, held me like I was something fragile, protecting me even during his sleep. My fingers curled slightly against the covers, a sigh leaving me as I felt safe in his embrace, that peaceful moment more rewarding than the night of intense passion. I was admiring my alpha mate’s almost boyish countenance when a sharp sound broke through the silence, making me flinch. Beep. Beep. Beep. Osiris’s alarm rang, and he woke up at once, groaning while reaching out to silence it. I seriously admired his punctuality, as usually it was impossible for me to wake up even after a series of alarms. The warmth around me shifted as he sta

Chapter 20

Kate’s P.O.V. Future Luna? Marriage? I forgot to breathe as Lauren revealed the truth behind Kayla’s confidence, each sentence slicing my heart into tiny pieces. “The Gamma family was preparing for the wedding, but then… you came. The situation has become a little complicated now.” Lauren tried her best to soften the blow, but the pain was inevitable. My throat closed up, my chest tightening as something sharp and unbearable spread through me. I finally realized that Osiris already had a future with Kayla, the one council approved of. And I… I just walked into it! That was the reason no one wanted me here in the first place. My heart felt hollow as I collapsed on the bed. My fingers clutched the sheets tightly as silent tears soaked beneath me. I didn’t sob or make a sound. But it hurt. It hurt more than I could ever imagine. I was aware that the mate-bond was based on instinct. It relied on irresistible physical attraction between mates. But when Osiris stood u
