NIGHTFANG PACK TRISTAN'S POV "The Western Council is going out of their way to paint us as demons and unprincipled wolves. That is ridiculous," Sanders thundered, throwing the remote control against the wall. The device shattered on impact, pieces scattering across the marble floor. I didn't flinch but Hope did. She stirred, her little face crumpling as a wail escaped her tiny lips. The sound cut through me like a blade, sharp and urgent. I couldn't help frowning at Sanders. "Keep it down. You are frightening my pup," I warned, placing her on my shoulder before rubbing her back gently. Her tiny body trembled against mine, her cries gradually softening as I swayed from side to side. I murmured soft reassurances against her hair,nonsense words, really, but she seemed to understand the tone, warmth and the safety. Slowly, her breathing evened out. Her cries faded to whimpers, then silence. Once calm, I made her lie back on the pillow. Her little face was peaceful again, h
