Bloodlust

Karl's POV It's been a month since Martha's treachery had been found out. Thanks to Clarissa, the Alpha still lived. Martha? She didn't survive the Alpha's rage. Leaving her alive would have been a dirty blow to the face. It would undermine the Alpha's authority. The Alpha had given her a quick death to pass a message to the pack. No one jeopardized the peace of the pack and went scot-free. This was the Ferguson I remembered. But I knew this—if it were any other wolf that had been in Martha's shoes, Ferguson would have seen to it that he was defanged and declawed before he was thrown out to the wild, away from the territories. It was definitely a death sentence. A brutal one. A wolf without his claws and fangs was defenseless. A prey to rogue wolves. Despite Martha's betrayal, Ferguson has still considered her service over the years.“The warriors are waiting for your call, beta,” Gregor said.“Let's go then.”Orchid had done enough. We needed to snuff her out. Her evil schemes h

Caution To The Wind

Elisha’s POV I watched Luca as he slept. The way his chest heaved up and down as he slept so soundly. Like he had no care in the world. So fucking clueless. I could easily rip his throat out right now. No one would know.Except Karl. I hadn't expected to run into him. But he had been there. Alert. Waiting.Killing Luca here in the pack house wasn't the best decision. I'd be caught before I even made it to the gates.I gritted my teeth as the flashbacks hit me. The image of him—of Luca—kissing my girl. Kissing Jenine. He shouldn't have done that. The way he had held her waist. The same way I had held her. How dare he?My hands trembled, my claws pushing out through the tips of my fingers. “Do it. Now!” the voice screamed inside my head. “Kill him!”My feet moved slowly towards the bed, like they had minds of their own. My fingers curled.Just then, he stirred.I paused.A groan and a turn and he went right back to sleep. This wasn't the best time and place to do this. So many things

Bye, Luca

Jenine's POV Not much changed. But it felt like Elisha was avoiding me now. I'd gotten used to seeing him everywhere around me. I kind of missed him. But at the same time, Luca's presence hovered around me like a ghost. A wraith. I didn't know what was worse. The overwhelming presence, the guilt I didn't feel for cheating on Elisha or the fact that I couldn't talk to anyone about it. Laura was out.Dear God– Goddess.I sighed. Maybe I should take a walk.I grabbed a shawl, throwing it over my head and slinging it around my neck. The door lock clicked as I turned the key in the keyhole. I turned bumping into something hard.A pair of arms caught me as I swirled.“Oh my God,” I gasped. “Don't do that, Elisha,” I pumped a fist into his chest. His lips curled into his lopsided grin, his eyes sparkling.“Going somewhere?” his hand rested on the door, cornering me. “Y– yeah,” I swallowed. “I was just–”“Going for a stroll.”Mischief gleamed in his eyes.“You know me way too much,” I mutt

Firm Decision

Karl's POV Hard-eared Luca. Why couldn't he see Elisha was trying to kill him?I'd seen him dodge Elisha's blow, his claws barely missing his neck.I crept closer. I needed to be alert in case anything went wrong. And things did go wrong. Faster than I expected.I saw Luca fall on his back. I saw Elisha's hand drop with intent. A kill blow. A very popular move.I moved quickly like lightning. The wind roared in my ears dulling time itself. My eyes glowed as I reached for his hand. I caught it in one swift move, twisting it behind his back, restraining him.He tried to struggle. A tortured grunt left his mouth as his shoulder bone cracked.I pulled him off Luca still holding him in place.“Karl,” Luca's voice cracked like whip. “What the hell is this?”He shuffled to his feet. Slowly.“Let him go. Now!”“I can't. He has to answer to the Alpha.”“Don't be stupid, Karl,” he growled. “We were just training.”“Yes,” Elisha grunted. “Tell him–”“Not another word from you,” I snapped. “Save

Three POVs

Elisha's POV Karl. He had thwarted my plans. Again. He just couldn't stay away. Mind his fucking business. It was getting on my nerves. All of it.I wanted Luca gone. If Karl wants to keep throwing my efforts to the ground, then he had to go too. Collateral damage. I needed to play it safe from now on.I followed Luca home.“I'd like to speak with the Alpha,” I whispered as we approached the gate. I could see him through it.Luca shot me a surprised look.“You sure about that?”I nodded.Karl was with him. His eyes danced on me longer than they had to as he walked away. A loathe-filled look. He could go to hell for all I cared.“Alpha,” I bowed. His arms folded across his chest. His eyes flicked from me to Luca and back to me. I felt Luca's jab in my ribs.“I– I'm sorry for putting your son's life in danger. We were just training and–”The words stuck in my throat as he silenced me with the raise of his hand.“There's nothing to apologize for. Like you said, you were just training. B

Contract

Luca's POV Her eyes looked stressed, the wrinkles tugging at the corners. She stared like she'd never seen me before, her eyes lingering on my face.“You're not going to invite me in?” my voice startled her.“Oh, I'm sorry,” she said a little too quickly. She moved out of the way. “My bad. Come on in. Please.”Please. She didn't need to beg. I was already walking in. My eyes flicked around.“She's not in,” Jenine said, her voice almost a whisper.I hadn't scented Laura when I walked in. She had read my thoughts. My eyes squinted. “Family business.”My chest tightened.“When did she leave?”“Just before you came.”My hands swept across my jaw. “Did she say when she'll be back?”“In a few weeks.”“Can you–” I paused.I heard the pounding of her heart against her chest. Hard. Irregular. I turned to face her.“Are you sure you can stay here all alone?” My voice came harder than I intended. Damn it. I cleared my throat.“I can. I think.”I looked around. A gentle breeze pushed the fain

A Fight For Her

Luca's POV “I WON'T TAKE HER AS MY MATE!”My eyes blurred, chest heaving. My claws dug into my palms as they folded into fists.“Luca–” Alpha Darren started, coming up to me, “–I understand how you feel but–”“Don't fucking touch me,” I growled. He sank back into his seat.I glared at my father. He remained unfazed, his face devoid of any expression. “How dare you?!” I lashed, my tongue like whip. “How dare you dictate what goes on in my life?”Karl's arms held me. “Don't be stupid,” he growled into my ear.“Let him go,” my father said flatly, a smug look on his face.I moved like tornado towards him, claws out.I missed his face by inches as he dodged. I felt my face tear, the blood splattering as he swiped me across the face. The wind left my lungs as his fist buried into my abdomen. A crack sound filled the room as my back hit the wall, my back sinking into it.Pain–hard and sharp–coursed over my body. A grunt left my lips as blood dripped out my mouth. My head swirled, ears ring

Mistaken Identity

Jenine's POV I heard the commotion in the pack house. My body trembled like leaf in a storm. It was okay to be nervous. I was used to it. Somehow. But fear? It was a new feeling. One I didn't like one bit. And it had all started when I'd come to this accursed place.I heard Luca roar about not taking someone as his mate. My heart froze. A crash sound made all my senses stand on edge. That's when I made up my mind. I wasn't going to endure this mental gymnastics anymore.I stalked cautiously to the door. Trembling fingers turned the knob. The man that had offered me a drink on Luca’s orders stared at me in the face. My mouth went dry. I put a shaky finger to my lips, eyes pleading shushing him.He just looked the other way like he hadn't seen a thing. Even the other wolves in the compound who saw me looked the other way. It was strange. Odd. Terrifying.I bolted out of the gate, my heart pounding. Fear overwhelmed me. I look back to see if I was being followed. No one was in sight. A

Council Of Alphas

Ferguson's POV I sat down beside the bed. My tired eyes stayed on him as he stirred. The door creaked open.“You need to rest,” Karl said, standing by the door. “The Council of Alphas is tomorrow and you need all the rest you can get.”I pushed out of the chair. A long look at Luca told me he'll be fine.“I'll watch him,” Karl assured.I nodded, making for my room. The sunlight seeped through the curtains as I stirred. The Council started at noon. Always. Every year without fail. Alphas with their betas and heirs attended every year to talk about their packs’ progress and territories. My heart skipped a beat as I got out of bed. I immediately remembered why. Luca. Karl said he'd found a mate. A deep breath–long and slow–put my mind at ease. I stepped into the shower, the water cooling my skin.“Karl,” I called through the mindlink heading down the stairs. The door to the dining area was slightly open.“Good morning father,” Luca greeted, the pitch in his voice noticeable. A smile t

Countdown

Karl's POV “He's coming to.”“Don't crowd him up. Give him space.”I heard the voices around me. My head ached. The back of my neck stung like hell. I forced my eyes open. My blurry eyes met a number of faces staring down at me. Most unrecognizable.“The healer is here. Let her through.”I recognized the voice barking commands. Rowe.Pain shot up in my hand as the healer held it. She pulled it into place without a word. I could feel my wolf heal me.“Scissors,” she called, her voice calm.I felt the snipping of the blades on my trousers. I gritted my teeth as she washed my wounds with disinfectant.“I need some privacy,” her voice echoed in my head. Her voice seemed oddly familiar.I heard the shuffling of feet and murmuring then a bang. Quietness. The smell of disinfectant hung strong in the room. “You'll be fine, beta,” she whispered. An eerie feeling ran through my body, stilling my blood. My hands clutched the bedsheets instinctively. Her cold hands pushed my cracked bones in p
