Alex’s P.O.V“Magic?” I asked her incredulously. “As in a witch?”“No.” Freya shook her head immediately. “This isn’t witch magic…this is different. It’s faint, but it’s definitely some kind of magic.”“You can tell different kinds of magic?” I frowned. I didn’t even know magic had sub-divisions. Freya’s training must really be paying off. Not to mention she comes from a family of witches that were once a part of their council.“It’s not something you notice immediately, but all supernatural creatures possess some form of magic, even wolves.” She explained. “For her though, the magic of her wolf is the strongest, but there is an undertone of something else…something that is just as much a part of her as her wolf.”“A hybrid.” I whispered, looking back at my mate.“They’re extremely rare, aren’t they?” Freya asked quietly. “I’ve hardly ever seen a wolf pair with that many species. The Moon Goddess doesn’t quite like the idea of mixed blood.”“It’s not common, yes,” I shrugged, a bit ir

Freya’s P.O.VThe woman dropped to the floor mid-jump, right after the shot reverberated inside the room. Both Alex and I turned to face the cell door, to find out who had fired the shot…to find Cameron standing with a gun in his hand, followed closely by Sarah. My heart hammered against my ribcage and I desperately wanted to run into the arms of my mate, to be surrounded by his embrace, but my head turned towards the woman instead.“Wh…what?” I swallowed hard, hoping and praying that I didn’t see blood gushing out of her body. Alex had gone unnaturally still next to me and I feared that he might snap if I touched him.“She’s alive.” Cameron’s voice was hard, angry, as he stepped inside the cell and grabbed a hold of my hand. “Get to the Alpha’s chambers, Alex. We need to talk.”With that, he began dragging me out of the cell and out of the dungeons…err, holding rooms.I glanced back to find Alex still standing like a statue over the woman’s unmoving body. He was in shock too, I could

Alex’s P.O.V“You called me, Alpha?” I bowed my head, knowing what was about to come, but still, it hurt to listen to the words I had been dreading.“You have disappointed me, Alex.” Alpha Charles’s voice wasn’t harsh; it was just soft and calm…like he really was disappointed in me. And that was what hurt even more. If only he yelled and got angry…“I’ll resign from my duties, if that helps the pack.” I kept my head lowered as I spoke. “I know I’ve disappointed everyone. But that rogue is my mate. I couldn’t have abandoned her, Alpha, not even for the pack.”“Our mates are our world; I know that more than you ever would.” Alpha Charles told me now, rising from his seat to come to stand in front of me. “But there is a cellar at the outskirts of the pack for this very reason. To keep prisoners or wolves who we are yet to determine if they are friends or foes. Bringing her inside not only pack territory, but inside the packhouse itself; getting the future Luna in harm’s way…how do you ju

Alex’s P.O.VI knocked on the doors to the healer’s private quarters later that night, guilt filling every cell in my body until it was difficult to breathe. What had I done?“Your wolf got overwhelmed,” Alpha Charles had told me right after the incident this evening, in a futile attempt to make me feel better. “And since Daisy had been the bearer of bad news, you went for her. Luckily, Cameron worked quickly and got her out before you could do too much damage.”Too much damage? I had seen the blood splattered all over the place…on the table, the walls and even the couch. That wasn’t just a mere scratch. It was worse than I had expected and the fact that she was now taking her sweet time in opening her door…it told me that Daisy wasn’t in a very nice condition.A good five minutes later, Daisy’s mate Ethan opened the door, a weary expression on his face. I remembered seeing him in the field this morning. He was one of the soldiers who had watched the whole ordeal with my mate.Dear go

Rogue Wolf’s P.O.V “This is the last time we’ll need to move, okay?” Our mother leaned down so she was eye level with my sister. “Do you understand, sweetheart?”“You promise?” Wet amethyst eyes met my mother’s and she hesitated. I saw her swallow hard before she pressed a kiss to my little sister’s forehead and closed the door of the car.“Be good, okay girls.” She told us as she made her way to the passenger’s seat while my dad started the car.“Okay.” The pout on her lips made her look even more adorable, but I knew my baby sister was sad to leave behind her new friends. She was only six, so she didn’t understand. But I was ten; I knew that mom’s promises were false. Because we never stop moving.“It’ll be fun, you know,” our dad turned to look behind at us, his smile radiant. “Think of it as an adventure. Some people spend their entire life in only one place. But not us! We are not boring people. We move to new places and we make friends all over the states. And someday…we’ll hav
