ARIELLE'S POV Suddenly a deafening roar shook the very air around me, followed instantly by the violent thud of two heavy bodies colliding in mid-air. I opened my eyes, gasping for air. A masked figure had appeared out of nowhere. The person was clad in dark clothes, their face completely concealed behind a solid black mask. Before the grey rogue could even process the sudden arrival, the masked stranger transformed in a blinding blur of light and shadow, shifting instantly into a massive, ghostly white wolf. The white wolf was striking, its pale fur glowing almost silver beneath the dark moonlight. It didn't hesitate for a single second. It leaped forward, its jaws snapping shut around the grey rogue's neck before the beast could react. The two wolves tumbled through the mud, a violent flurry of white fur, grey hide, and flashing fangs. I squeezed myself tighter into my hiding spot against the oak tree, watching in absolute awe and sheer terror as the white wolf fought of

VICTOR’S POV The servant, a middle-aged man, led me deep into the mansion’s sprawling interior. We navigated through a series of quiet hallways until we stepped into a massive, glass-domed inbuilt garden. The air inside should have smelled of fresh earth and vibrant flora, but instead, a heavy, suffocating decay hung in the atmosphere. He guided me along a stone path toward the far corner of the greenhouse, pointing a trembling finger toward the vegetable patches. "Look there, sir," he whispered, his voice laced with anxiety. As we walked closer, I noticed the stark transformation of the landscape. The soil in this particular section had turned unnaturally dark, almost charcoal black, radiating an unsettling chill. In the center of this dead zone stood a small plant whose leaves were a mixture of purple and blue. "It only began sprouting up last week," the servant explained, keeping a cautious distance. "Before that, I had observed a little bump on the ground right at t

ARIELLE'S POV The first thing I noticed was the cold. My hand reached across the empty sheets, searching for warmth that wasn't there. The space beside me had long since gone cold, and the pillow still bore the faint indent of Victor's head. I sat up slowly, my heart already beginning to race. He wouldn't leave without telling me. Would he? The night before had been strange. Victor had been quiet during dinner, barely touching his food, his eyes distant and troubled. He claimed he was fine and I'd believed him. Now, staring at his empty side of the bed, doubt began to creep in like a cold draft. I threw off the covers and grabbed my robe, my bare feet padding softly against the hardwood floor as I made my way through the familiar halls of my childhood home. The mansion was still waking up servants moving quietly in the distance, the scent of fresh coffee drifting from the kitchen. I found him in the garden. Victor knelt by the dying vegetable patch, his back to me, his shoulde

ARIELLE'S POV The bunker was hidden beneath the east wing, accessible only through a false wall behind the library's oldest bookshelf. I had lived in this mansion my entire life and never known it existed. Dad led us down a narrow spiral staircase, his hand firmly gripping the iron railing. The air grew cooler with each step, and the faint hum of generators echoed from somewhere deep below. When we reached the bottom, he pressed his palm against a steel panel, and the lights flickered on, illuminating a spacious underground room. It was stocked with everything: medical supplies, non-perishable food, weapons, communication equipment. My father had prepared for this moment long before any of us had known to fear it. "Sit," he commanded, gesturing toward the worn leather couches arranged around a central table. "We don't have much time." Victor lowered me onto one of the couches, his hand never leaving mine. His face was still pale, the dark circles beneath his eyes more pron

Victor's POV The bunker smells like concrete and fear. I move through the underground corridors like a man possessed, my boots pounding against the stone floor, my voice echoing off the walls as I bark orders. Marcus is already at work, his face pale and drawn, veins of silver light crawling up his neck as he pours what remains of his power into the protective barrier surrounding the mansion. I grip his shoulder a silent acknowledgment I don't have time to voice. "Hold it as long as you can," I commanded. He nods, sweat beading on his brow. "I'll give you everything I have." Michael takes charge of Harrison's security team without hesitation, his voice cutting through the panic like a blade. I trust him. I have to. He's arranging defensive positions, directing wolves and humans alike into a semblance of order. Harrison is there too, pale and shaken but standing tall, his eyes scanning the crowd for a face he can't find. Arielle. I carry one of the wolves through the bunker, her
