Chapter 1

Tonight was the coming-of-age ceremony. It was the night of greatest honor for our generation of werewolves.Around me, the werewolves I had grown up with shifted one after another beneath the moonlight and the crackling bonfires. Chapter 2

I first learned what despair felt like when I was ten years old.It happened on a moonless night. Three teen werewolves cornered me behind a storage shed.They said a 'mute half-blood' like me didn't deserve to live in Royal City.They wanted to throw me into a dry well to 'cleanse' my blood.I couldn't scream for help. Chapter 3

I barely had time to think before I was dragged roughly out of the hall where my fate had just been decided.Behind me were the cold stares of the werewolves and Carla's fake sighs of sympathy.The stone door of the holding cell slammed shut behind me with a deafening crash. The sound echoed through the cramped space and made my ears ring.The cell was dark and damp. The air carried the rotting scent of mildew and dust.The only source of light came from a small slot in the door used to pass food through. Pale moonlight slipped inside, casting shadows across the floor like prison bars.I curled up in the corner with the icy stone wall pressed against my back. Cold seeped slowly into my bones.Tomorrow at dawn, I would be taken to the edge of the Forbidden Forest and thrown away like trash.Just as despair and cold were beginning to numb me, I heard the sound of a key turning in the lock.The stone door opened slightly. Chapter 4

My eyes went wide, and my body started trembling with rage.I wanted to lunge at her. I wanted to tear apart that beautiful but vile face.But I knew I couldn't.I was nothing more than a useless werewolf who couldn't even shift, while she could turn into a wolf with claws and fangs whenever she wanted.My helplessness pleased her.Her smile grew wider.Suddenly, she reached out and grabbed my chin. The sound of a key sliding into the lock echoed through the cell. It felt like my blood had gone cold.My limbs were cold, and every muscle in my body was tense from fear.I scrambled backward desperately before pressing myself against the freezing stone wall, but there was nowhere left to go.The door slowly creaked open.The two guards were smiling like perverts. The torchlight outside lit their horrendous-looking faces.However, their smiles only lasted for a second.A deep, deafening roar that felt like it came from the depths of hell suddenly echoed through the dungeon.The sound carried warning and lethal intent, along with a dominance rooted deep within one's bloodline. The sky was bright.The stone door of the holding cell was yanked open from the outside. Harsh sunlight poured in, and I instinctively raised an arm to shield my eyes.The guards assigned to escort me stood in the doorway with blank expressions. They were like emotionless statues."Move, defect," one of them snapped impatiently.I stood up silently and followed behind them.Each step I took felt unsteady and weak.After leaving the dungeon, we walked through Royal City.I had walked these roads for sixteen years.I knew every rock and every tree along the path, but today, even they seemed to be looking at me with unfamiliarity and rejection.The werewolves lined both sides of the road leading to the forest.They weren't here to say goodbye. Chapter 7

It felt as though every last bit of strength had been drained from me. Feeling hollow, I started walking deeper into the Forbidden Forest.The world behind me, along with its mockery and cruelty, vanished into darkness.The forest was terrifyingly dim. Ancient trees stretched high overhead, and their tangled branches shredded the sky into fragments.The air smelled of rotting leaves and damp earth. There was also a hint of a bloody scent.The ground was soft and sticky underfoot, and each step made a squelching sound.All around me, it was silent. I couldn't even hear birdsong or insects chirping. There was only the pounding of my own heartbeat, which was magnified infinitely in the stillness.I didn't dare stop. A splash of scorching liquid hit my face. It carried Jamie's unique scent.His body trembled violently from the pain, and he let out a muffled groan.But he didn't retreat. Instead, he used the opening to snap his head forward and clamp his jaws around the rogue's neck.Clack!The crisp sound of breaking bone echoed through the forest. The rogue's howl was cut off instantly.Its massive body twitched a few times before collapsing lifelessly to the ground. The crimson glow faded from its eyes.After dealing with the enemy, Jamie's tense body finally relaxed.He staggered a little. The footsteps grew closer. They were mixed with the rustle of weapons brushing against branches and leaves.There were many of them, and they were all clearly trained killers.Jamie was badly injured. There was no way he could protect me and fight them all."Listen." He turned to face me. His warm breath brushed against my ear. His voice was urgent and low. "There's a hidden cave in the ravine ahead. Go in there now!"He grabbed my arm and shoved me in the direction he had mentioned.I stumbled forward a few steps before turning back to look at him. I stood at the mouth of the shattered cave. Soft silver light was still flowing around me.Something barely noticeable stirred within me. The overwhelming pressure that had shaken the entire forest moments ago had weakened considerably.The assassins, who had been subdued earlier, snarled and lunged at Jamie with bloodshot eyes. They ignored the vast difference between the strengths of our bloodlines."You all have a death wish!" I yelled.Enraged, I began channeling the silver moon's power within my body.
