Lahat ng Kabanata ng I Killed My Brother... Or So They Say: Kabanata 1 - Kabanata 9

An emotional crowd blocked the road ahead of me, hurling all kinds of garbage in my direction.Camera flashes went off incessantly as various media outlets scrambled to capture my disheveled state."Kathleen Wilcox, your adoptive parents spent so much energy and money raising you, yet you killed their biological son? You're a demon!""What kind of ungrateful jerk does something like this? How can you live with yourself after doing something like this?"I remained expressionless, kept my head down, and made no response.Meanwhile, my adoptive parents, Roger Wilcox and Amber Cohen, squeezed through the crowd, leaning on each other. In just three short days, their hair had become streaked with gray."Kathleen, Douglas suffered from illness for over 20 years and finally had a chance to recover. Why did you have to kill him? You wanted to study medicine and go abroad, and we drained every penny we had to put you through school. What did we ever do to deserve this from you?"Dad stead

The reporters couldn't help but tear up at Mom and Dad's words. The video ended.Maureen flipped her phone face down on the table, frowning deeply as she looked at me."Kathleen, Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox are right. They did everything they could possibly do for you, so why on earth did you kill Douglas?"I lifted my glass and took a sip before replying calmly, "Are there really parents that perfect out there? Ms. Ingram, don't you think the fact that they were so good to me is precisely what makes it suspicious?"Maureen's patience was wearing thin, and her voice took an edge of urgency."How are they treating you well somehow their fault? Kathleen, I didn't believe it when Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox said you suffered from paranoia. But now, I have no choice but to think you really need to see a psychiatrist."I didn't get angry even under her skeptical gaze."I already told you that both the truth and evidence are all in that live stream. Ms. Ingram, you must've overlooked something."A

Maureen picked up the photo that Mom had thrown to the ground and held it high for everyone to see."Take a close look at this photo. Does this little girl in it look familiar to anyone?"The reporter standing at the very front suddenly covered her mouth and gasped."This little girl looks a lot like Kathleen. Could they be relatives?"Another reporter frowned deeply."But I think this little girl also resembles Douglas. Especially her nose and mouth—they're practically identical to Douglas'."One of the fellow patients staggered up to the photo, a flash of terror crossing his face."I remember now! Douglas had a photo of this girl on his phone! He told me back then that she was his daughter, but I thought he was joking."At this, a bold speculation surged through everyone's minds."So, this little girl is Kathleen and Douglas' daughter?""This girl is already quite grown up. Wouldn't Kathleen and Douglas have still been students back when they had her?""If our speculation

"The person in the photo is my twin sister, Christy Dyer, and that little girl is her daughter with Douglas. My adoptive parents knew from the very beginning that Lana was the heart donor because—"Mom suddenly rushed over and slapped me in the face, cutting me off."Kathleen, you'd better think carefully before you speak. What twin sister? This little girl is clearly a bastard you gave birth to after fooling around with a thug! Douglas is already dead because of you—why do you have to destroy his reputation too?"I wiped the blood from the corner of my lips and looked coldly at Mom."Christy and I were sent to the orphanage together back then. If you all don't believe me, you can go to the orphanage and ask the director, Kent Sharp."Mom let out a cold laugh."Kathleen, everyone here is busy. No one has time for your nonsense. Who would go so far out of their way to that godforsaken orphanage with you?"However, the reporters present weren't about to let a story slip away. The

I patted Christy on the shoulder and picked up where she left off."I thought my adoptive parents had finally grown a conscience and that was why they spent so much money putting me through medical school. I never imagined it was all for Douglas!"They used Christy's and my freedom as bargaining chips. If I agreed to perform Douglas' surgery, we could take Lana and leave them for good. But halfway through the operation, I got a call from Christy."She told me the truth about the car accident. So, I walked out of that surgery to go find her. What I didn't know was that my adoptive parents had already taken Christy away."Maureen stepped forward and handed us tissues."When Kathleen told me to look for the truth in the live stream recording, I also noticed something strange about that phone call. I got our tech team to run a lip-reading analysis, and that trail led me straight to the news of Christy's accident."But it wasn't until today, when Christy regained consciousness, that I
